Guest guest
got his band on Monday. One spot was very red so we brought him a few days ago. She shaved it, and put a soft adhesive tape thing on it. When we got home and checked it it was even more red. I took the tape thing off to give it more room and today it looks ok after him wearing it 4 hours. The only question I have is it is not really red, but it is a little shiny. Could that be the start of a blister? I was going to let him wear it all night tonight since it isn't really red anymore, but if he wears it 12 hours straight and develops a blister then he probably won't be able to wear it for a while. What do you think? I don't see any blister, but it is shiny. Thanks.
Guest guest
We were told by our OT to be very observant to any " shiny " red spots. He said that means it is rubbing too much and needs to be adjusted. I would definately call your OT back and let them know asap so it does not get worse or leave permanent marks. Guest guest
has a spot that is red and a little shiny too. I called the orthodist and he said just to watch for a change in skin condition (is the skin surface any different from the rest?) but now that another day has gone by, it looks like it might be a blister forming. He didn't even wear it last night because he wound up with a fever. And it doesn't seem to be bothering him today. I wonder if you put a little piece of medical tape (the kind that is not that sticky but it is really thin) on the spot to avoid a blister? Guest guest
Hi there I'm late in responding, so I will just ask how it went. Did you go back for an adjustment again? Shinyness can usually go either way. be ok, or blister. If you have this issue again I would probably call the, or leave the band off for a while till the skin is healthy again. Guest guest
I have kept the band off since yesterday. It didn't blister, but stayed red for a really long time. Now he has 2 other very red spots that stay red for about 10 hours. Tomorrow I have a CT appointment. I am so mad I didn;t take pictures of the red spots for them to see exactly where they are since he won't have the band on when I take him. Oh well. Thanks everyone for responding. > > got his band on Monday. One spot was very red so we brought > > him a few days ago. She shaved it, and put a soft adhesive tape > thing > > on it.
