Guest guest Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 Hi , I know you have gotten a lot of responses about Abigail's blue lips, but I wanted to add one more. I spoke to my mom just a bit ago about your daughter (mom is a Respiatory Therapist). She said that if she were you she would request to be seen either by your ped or a cardiologist...preferably the one who treated her at birth. If for some reason you can't get seen VERY SOON, it would be wise to make a trip to the ER. My mom says even though her lips don't stay blue and her fingers are fine, it could still be very serious. There are instances when the docs think the murmur is gone and the hole that causes the murmur has closed only to find out that when a child gets older and more active they are wrong and the hole is still open. She at least needs to be seen and examined by her ped and if he refuses I would go elsewhere. If Abigails lips are turning blue, especially after being active it could mean that her heart is not working right and her un-oxygenated and oxygenated blood are mixing which can spell trouble. Mom also said that for your ped to have dismissed the heavy breathing and not seemed concerned about the blue lips, even if they just stay blue a few minutes, is just plain wrong. I am not trying to scare you, but being a woman who went into respiatory failure during labor (and the nurse was a dipwad) and respiratory distress the next day, I worry when breathing trouble occurs, especially in a child. Good Luck and please let us know how everything is. in Texas Mom to , DOC Grad 7/04 Plagio/Brachy(resolved)/ Tort Quote
