Guest guest Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Hi Lori... I bought a bumbo for Ignacio when he was almost 1 year old since he was still not sitting on his own and his band treatment was finished. IT WAS THE BEST SPENT MONEY... of course, after the band ;-). I definitely think it helped Ignacio gain the confidence and force he needed to start sitting on his own. His twin brother, , who is behind Ignacio in motor skills started sitting in the Bumbo and in three weeks he started sitting on his own. I really dont know if the Bumbo had anything to do with it... but I truly believe it did. Concerning the size issue... I dont know in what percentile are the twins but they are long (31 " ) but sort of skinny (21.5 pounds)... and they still fit on it. The problem is that now that they are sitting on their own they dont like the bumbo so much becuase the want to be free to move around. I know that the banding process can be expensive, specially whe our dear insurance companies doesnt gives us any help... But I would consider spending the money on the Bumbo... You can try to get one used... One of the members in this group advice me to get on Ebay to see if they had one available. Also you can check with other members of this group to see if they are willing to sell theirs. I would offer you mine but a friend of my dh asked us if we could borrow the chair for their daugher who is 2 months old. Good luck.
