Hi there,

Our son Max (nearly 6 months old) was fitted with a Starband three

weeks ago. Steve Mottram did the initial scanning and fitting while

our orthotist Garth has and will do all the subsequent fittings.

Others on the site have already given you lots of valuable

information but we just wanted to give you our thoughts.

First, after just 3 weeks in the STARband there is already a

noticeable improvement in Max's headshape. This is probably

attributable to the fact that he was fitted early (5 months), so

while repositioning is certainly something to try initially, you

might not want to hold off too long if there are no immediate results.

Second, one benefit of the STARband (vs Dr. Blecher's helmet) is that

the results can be quantified using the STARscanner, which is

important to us. In addition, there is no need for casting which is

probably a little unpleasant for your child.

Finally, maybe we were lucky, but we were able to get out helmet very

quickly through Steve (getting an initial appointment) and

Orthoamerica (turnaround time from initial scanning was about 1 week).

That said, we have only read positive things about Dr. Blecher so

either way you will be in good hands.

Good luck,

& Sheila
