Guest guest Posted May 17, 2002 Report Share Posted May 17, 2002 Hi all, well I went to my Endo for test results and they were not quite what I expected. My scan was clean but my TG was 3o. So now I am racking my brain trying to think about what i've read about this scenario. Dr. said it most likely is in my neck some where, he said under normal conditions he would just send me in for another 150mci for a search and destroy mission but because of the scarring and problems with my salivary glands(both sides) he did not want to do that. Second option was do cat scan and other test in the hopes of finding it. Third option is to refere me to a thyroid cancer specialist who deals exclusively with thyca. He will do an in depth ultra sound and if he finds anything biopsy it right there. If they find something then he thinks back to surgery. When I asked him what happens if he does not find anything he said there are other options the doc might want to do such as further testing to locate the thyca or maybe just sit on it and it may not ever change but that is jumping the gun. Has any one ever heard of a Dr. Choose at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. I think thats how to spell his last name. Any how I think I am still in a state of shock but what worries me most is the after effects of any treatment. I think I have delt with it all pretty well and have been very positive up to now. But it's like a mama thing- do to me what you must but don't touch my salivary gland or my parathyroid gland or neck nerves. See what I mean now we are talking about surgery on something that may be tiny and deep in my neck and I am worried about any further damage from any treatment. I think this has me more worried then the actual finding of ca. And then I think what if I do have mets out side of my neck and I do need further radioactive treatment at high amounts will this totaly destroy my salivary glands. Oh well this is long enough. When I told my sister tonight she said I bet you can't wait to get on the computer about this and she was right I needed to tell you guys. Have a good week end. I'm back on my meds but I thinks I will take monday off just for me.
