Hi. I'm new to the group. My son Nick has plagio/tort, he has been

in his DOC band for 7 weeks w/ good progress. He has always been

difficult to reposition. I'm looking for ways to keep his head from

falling to the right when sleeping - wedge pillow, etc. He is

sometimes very active in his sleep, so I'm not sure what to do!!

Please share your suggestions and success stories! Thanks!

Hi,

Welcome to the group!

Congratulations on Nick getting good progress in his DOCband. How

old is he?

I would be happy to help you with any repositioning issues.

Normally, parents do not have to perform any repositioning once they

have their baby banded, as the band does that work for them. Is

there a particular comfort reason why you would like to prevent your

son from turning his head to the right while sleeping? Is Nick

wearing his band 23 hours a day, including nighttime? If he is

wearing his DOCband at night, you shouldn't have to worry about

repositioning him at night. Are you currently battling a tort issue

with your baby as well?

You've asked an unusual question for a banded baby! Would you let

me know a little more about his situation and why you would like to

reposition at night?

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy, and Repo Moderator)

Christie -

Thanks for the welcome. Nick is 8 1/2 mos old. He has severe tort,

thankfully we are finally making some progress. I have read some

stories about regression once the band is off and I'm scared as his

we still have quite a journey ahead of us w/ the tort. I discussed

it w/ our PT at CT, she assured me regression is unlikely, but I'm

worrying anyway! (hehe) We anticipate about 6-8 more weeks in the

band. So once the band is off I know Nick will be back to sleeping

w/ his head to the right until we get the tort resolved or much

improved and I'm concerned w/ regression in his head shape. He's

perfect to me in every way - no matter what - but we started this

journey for him and I don't want to let him down! Oh - yes - he is

definately wearing his band 23 hours/day....I've come to think of the

band as our safety net and am sorta nervous about it coming off!

Does that give you a better picture? What do you think?

Thanks for taking the time to visit w/ me! I very much appreciate

this group!!!

Bonnie,

I wouldn't worry about regression now. I would work on his tort as much as possible. Do your own mini PT sessions throughout the day. Do his stretches and encourage strengthening and full range of motion. If you make good progress with his tort and he is mobile in the next 6-8 weeks regression may be a moot point. We have some good stretching and strengthening tips in the files section.
