Hi ,

Do you have any top view photos of Annie that you could post? If

cranio is indeed ruled out for sure and you still aren't happy with

her headshape and/or facial assymetry I'd go for the band. Nobody

can tell you if it will fix itself as time goes on, but you can

certainly make that more likely by banding her. There are no

negatives about banding other than having the time for going for

adjustments and paying for the band if ins doesn't. It's certainly

worth a try IF you want to do it.

For : Annie's head isn't too bad from the top but from face on she has a square head due to the ridges on the coronal ridge and behind her upper lobes. Her head is quite flat at the sides but no to bad from at the back but it isn't what I would call rotund. I know that I have changed my comments abot her head shape but this is how quickly her head is changing. Luckily she has hair but it is getting thinner on her left hand side (this is where her ridges are worse). Without the hair I think Annie's problem would be very noticeable.

Her photo's areon the boad under Anie-Mae H and youcan clearly see the riding on the left hand side. I think it has got worse since then and her head appear square.

Thanks

Hello

It is a hard decision to make. Hopefully the scan will show that it

is positional plagio vs. cranio. Then I do believe you should go

with your instincts. I did look at the pictures and see the crooked

paci, but it's hard to tell just from the 2 pictures you have in

there. Good luck and let us know on how you decide.

Hi ,

I just wanted to comment on the ear ridges you mentioned... I don't

know if this is the same thing, but my daughter Remy had what I

called " bulges " over both ears, with one of the bulges bigger than

the other (she was a brachy/plagio baby that was flat across the

back of her head, as well as plagio on one side of the back of her

head.) I looked at Annie's photos, and they look really similar to

what I saw with Remy.

I have read in other posts where the band or helmet has totally

eliminated or greatly improved the appearance of these bulges. In

our case, we did aggressive repositioning only, and the bulges are

still there. They are reduced in size, and are of a similar size,

but they are still there. Remy always had a ton of hair right from

birth, so these bulges were difficult to really see unless she was

in the bath and we combed her head back. I just wanted to let you

know that Remy is over 2 years old now, and the bulges never went

away in her case, and we didn't use a helmet or band, which you may

want to consider.

If you find that you have to " sell " your ped on helmets/bands to get

him to write a prescription so that you can at least consider

banding, you should definitly emphasize the childcare situation.

You should explain that you can't guarantee tummy time and time off

of the back of the head for X number of hours a day.

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)
