Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. How does he do in it when he's awake? Some babies have a more difficult time adjusting to it while sleeping b/c they no longer have that nice comfy flat spot to rest on. Does he have any red spots that aren't fading within an hour? Do you think it looks like it fits well? Do you have any pics you could post? Which STARband facility are you using? , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > My son is 7 months old and has just received his helmet. Guest guest
Thank you for your response. BTW, I am getting used to group formats, so forgive any weird text wrapping or strange reply locations until I get the hang of it. His red spots do disappear and I do notice some slipping around the ear areas. He sleeps on his stomach (by his own repositioning) and spends little time on his back now that he is sitting and more active. He cries when I touch the hlmet, put it on or take it off. In general he plays fine with it and seems to be learning to accomodate the extra weight, as he is rolling more without fussing. He will not sleep in it. Well, he did sleep for 20 minutes after crying for several minutes. My son is mild mannered, sleeps 12 hours at night and is quite accomodating, but with the helmet I have seen his little personality change and am hoping it is due to the adjustment period. Any hints on how to get him to sleep in it? Any tips you tried? What is your child's situation? Thank you
Guest guest
Is he sweating badly? Maybe he needs to be dressed lighter for bed? I don't know! If he's fine when he's awake and has no red spots, than it's probably not the helmet itself. Is he a brachy head shape? These babies often have a harder time adjusting to sleeping in it. I hope he adjusts soon for you! My Hannah started w/severe plagio and had bands at 4.5 mos, 8.5 mos, and 15 mos, and adjusted okay each time. She had more trouble sleeping w/the first one if any.
