I know I'm not the only one struggling with guilt watching my little

guy sweating bullets in his new helmet! My son, who NEVER cries for

the life of him, has been miserable the past couple days. He doesn't

really fuss, just isn't his normal, jolly self. It's breaking my

heart! Whenever I take the helmet off, he gets SO happy and smiles

and laughs again.

To top it off-the orthotist we see if only in town once a week and

today my son's eye swelled up from what I can only assume is a

continuing ill-fitting helmet. We're up to 6 hours a day now.

PLEASE--someone tell me this will get better! He's only been in 4

days and I'm already second-guessing myself!

In Christ,

Hi -

I am so sorry that Asher is not adjusting to the helmet.

My son, was not happy in the beginning either. It was because his

helmet didn't fit right. Are you getting any red spots? Is it too

tight? They do perspire the first few weeks, but they get better as

time goes on. Make sure he is dressed very light, with no shoes. Do you

have A/C?

ended up getting another helmet, which I hope you don't need to

do. But, when he got his 2nd helmet he didn't cry a bit. DIdn't even

fuss. I would take the helmet back to the Orthotist. I would go with my

mommy instinct and not have him suffer.

The helmet therapy is a wonderful thing, so don't second guess

yourself. If the helmet is not a good fit, then it needs fixing.

Keep us posted!

Hi ,

My daughter, Amelia, turns into a very unhappy baby while wearing

her cap, too. She has Plagiocephally with slight torticollis. We

are on our 2nd cap because the first one didn't fit right. She

still sweats like crazy but it's not leaving the red spots. We try

to have her in it for 1/2 the day and we are seeing great

improvement in her head shape. I'm sure she will have to wear the

cap longer than expected but I need to see my happy baby! I have

often thought of giving up on this process but even the slight

improvement that I've seen has made me stick with it. Hang in there!
