I'm not but it was when the woman drown in her car in a canal and

Powerphone said it was the dispatchers fault for not knowing how to tell the

woman

to get out of a sinking car.

You might also ask about the Instructor. We were amazed to find that PP

(Powerphone) has a plastic surgeon teaching some of their stress classes (yikes)

It's a tight combination of a quality Instructor and updated curriculum that

make a class successful.

While I'm here, check out the www.pstc911.com site for our updated schedule!

We have over 50 classes scheduled and , we are chatting with your Iowa

Chapter to be back soon in Iowa for your state conference!!

Thanks all -

Yea I seem to remember the thread. who cares, it sounds like a good couple

days of classes.. you gotta get over those things, it will tear you up

inside, and you could miss some good training classes.

im not paying for it, the sheriffs office is paying for it.

I completely agree! That's why PSTC uses only REAL dispatchers as

Instructors. We also do our own curriculum reviews and make sure our classes are

dispatch

specific.

Thanks goodness for groups like this that compare classes and quality.

Thankfully, we at PSTC get good reviews :)

,

I am curious. What makes a plastic surgeon qualified to teach stress

classes?

Sounds kind of like having the Plumber put a new roof on my house.

Just my 2 cents

Unfortunately that is the way many uniforms look at dispatch. " any monkey

could do it. "

I dare say we would make better officers than many we work with. Some of

them are marginally qualified to count as a human being.

I didn't detect the sarcasm in 's statement. I thought he was being

Well, a lot of people do care that an organization that should be an advocate

for our profession was so eager to jump on the " blame dispatch " bandwagon. As to

the training, I have gone to a couple of PowerPhone classes, and it is okay

training. I personally prefer to be trained by people who have sat in my seat

however and PowerPhone does not employ active or retired dispatch personnel to

teach their classes. The suicide intervention class I had was taught by a former

CHP officer and the fire dispatch class was taught by a former fire chief. Both

very intelligent men, both highly trained and qualified in their

areas...however, neither had ever worked dispatch and when asked questions

specific to dispatch, were a bit at a loss. They were much more effective at

telling us what the officer/ff needed/expected/etc; but dispatch specific

questions left them floundering. Okay for a couple days of classes perhaps, but

with the limited amount of training I can wrangle for my people, I prefer

dispatch specific training from people that know the score in dispatch.
