Guest guest
Hello Melony Congradulations!!!!! First off to the tort exercises. I would continue as long as your daughter lets you. My daughter also had tort and I still try to get her to stretch both sides to stretch and strengthen. I can't really answer your ?S other than that. We had no exit cast, but I do know that it is a way of making sure that no reflattening is occuring. Guest guest
Congrads !!! I'll answer your questions below: > 1) I don't remember hearing anyone talking about an exit casting > but I assume this is common practice. goes for hers > tomorrow. Does everyone do one? Not everyone does one, it's entirely up to the parents. Many parents do it in fear of regression may occur as well as ins. purposes. > 2) There was a discussion very recently about what to do with your > baby's molding - Were y'all talking about the " heads on a stick " > from the casting? And if so, does that become ours? I did not get > mine and I was wondering if I would? Yes, you'll get the head on a stick. > > 3) Will we be told if we should continue 's tort exercises? > I'd ask about it at your exit casting tomorrow-are you just doing them yourselves at home or w/a therapist? Let us know how the exit cast goes GOOD LUCK. Debbie
Guest guest
Hi Melony, Congrats to you and natalie! Very exciting! You will get to keep the headsicle . Not everyone does an exit cast, but it is suggested to have as a record of the final head shape. I didn't do it b/c it would have meant an extra 3 hr each way trip, but afterward I regretted it b/c we dealt w/possible regression. I'd ask them about the tort tomorrow. Good luck! , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > Hi, > > My graduated!!! YAY!! She got 4 months (we were only > expecting 3) out of her band and got excellent correction. Guest guest
Hi Melony... glad to hear graduated. I guess, at least with the DOC Band, they try to schedule an exit cast. I know some people decide not to do it, specially when the baby is really fussy dunring the casting process. In Ignacio's case, we are schedule to do the exit cast on the 11th and we will do it. The ortho really asked me to take Ignacio to the exit cast because he is still not sitting on his own and that concerns her a little bit since it can increase his chance of regression. So, we decided to do the exit cast just in case. Concerning the tort question... Ive been told that I have to do Ignacio's exercises every day until he turns 2 years old. The problem is that some babies, specially qhen the hit a growth spur, could get the tort back again. If you continue to do the exercises you decrese the chance of this happening. I really don't know about the molding... Please let me know when you find out. Annie Mom to twins, Ignacio (DOC 12/2/03 & 2/17/04) & San , PR > Hi, > > My graduated!!! YAY!!
