i had to wait 4 weeks from casting to initial fitting also. Exactly 28 days. I am actually pretty fed up with the whole scenerio, i am about to give up. I love her head the way it is, actually we've had some correction. But she absolutley hates it. She will not sleep in it and just fusses the whole time unitl i take it off 2 hours later, then she passes out ....lol...

Hi Debbie-

was casted 20 days ago - April 1st!

I really am so upset- I can't imagine doing the whole process all over

again. was 6 months on April 1st. His b-day is Oct 1, 2003- now

he is pushing 7 months! My motherly instinct says " NO WAY " - this is

not working out. I have photos of under ph. My

neurosurgeon said if it was her child she would NOT get a helmet. She

would just reposition since he doesn't have asymmetry or torticollis.

Her voice is echoing in my head now - to not do this. But, I just don't

want to look back at all of this and wish later I stuck with it.

Please look at 's photos and give me your opinion.

Thanks,

Krissy…

I just looked

at ph’s photos, and first let me tell you he has the GREATEST

face!!!!! What a cutie, and those eyes! Anyway, I think I would stick with

banding him. I probably would if he were mine. It sounds like it has been very

hard on all of you, but just think about how wonderful you are all going to

feel when he is graduated and he has a great round noggin to go with that great

face. Remember we are all here for you!

How long ago

was casted though? If it's been a more than 2

wks, I'd

STRONGLY encourage you getting a re-cast. I know it's

nothing you

want to do, but baby's heads are growing & changing so

much, that

even an extra wk between casting & fitting could really

make a huge

difference.

Hi Kathy-

Thank you so much for your thoughts and concerns. I am so happy that

your child is doing well and for his age. They scare you saying past 7

months is almost too late. I am glad to know that it is not too late.

Does your have a starband or a Docband? How long has he worn his

helmet? Do you have photos of him?

Well- thanks again,

Krissy

Hi Krissy,

No, I don't have pix of him yet in the photo section. Our scanner is on the fritz.

Yeah, I was very concerned about his age because our ped kept saying past 6-8 months there wasn't anything they could do. He has been in a DOCband since March 5, he just turned 1 on April 2. We have seen alot of improvement!!! He still has a slight ridge in back on his right side where it starts to slant to the left, but, before the ridge was very pronounced. The slant is filling in & the bulge & flattening on the forehead is more rounded. His left ear is still somewhat forward but I'm told that's one of the last things to correct itself.

It's funny (or not, depending on what kind of mood I'm in), before his helmet family & friends would tell me there wasn't anything wrong with him & just let it be. Now they all tell me how much better he looks. I'm glad I followed my gut & not their well intended advice.

Now we're coming up on the 2 month mark & it seems as if time has flown by.

Best of luck,

Kathy

Re: Re: Starband Orthomerica Mistake!Thank you sooooo much for this information. My husband will be calling the Orthotist tomorrow. We are extremely upset. By the time get casted and refitted it may be up to 3 more weeks!!!!! He will be 7 1/2 months. My son is so sweet and seems back to his happy self without the band. I have prayed before all of this, and I feel because we are having such a hard time with this, could it be answered prayer to not go on doing this? It is really hard when you don't hear God's literal voice.
