Guest guest
Welcome My name is Arlene, 36, married no children and an avid quilter. We are all here to support you. Just take it slowly and you can do it. I did 27 lbs today. Guest guest
> Welcome Cristina, I'm Gena. At my heaviest I was 284. Since Oct 2000 I have lost 84 and have about 40 more to go. You don't need luck. Just work on habits, lifestyle, baby steps. Once you have the habits changed the weight loss follows. You can do it! Take care, Gena > > > hi, I am new to the list but would like to introduce myself. > > My name is Cristina and I need some incentive to lose about > > 30 pounds. > > > > I have been kind of down > > about my physical apperance and haven't done anything to improve my > > mood, so I am thinking that taking > > charge of my own body could be a nice start > > > > Wish me luck > > >
Guest guest
Hi Cristina, Welcome. I would like to lose about 50. Be nice if we could see us meet our goals. Guest guest
Hi Cristina! You can do it! It isn't easy... there is no magic diet that makes it like a walk in hte park... it will take a plan and some determination, but you can absolutley do it. Make sure whatever way of eating you choose it includes multiple small days each day. It keeps you from feeling as hungry and it keeps your body burning calories. And then find an exercise plan that will work for you. I am a big believer in the benefits of weights in weight loss... muscle burns more calories than fat, and the research I've seen on the effectiveness of slow to moderate aerobics doesn't say much good about the additive role of aerobics in weight loss. Calorie deficit is the key! So go for it and it can happen! > > > hi, I am new to the list but would like to introduce myself. > > My name is Cristina and I need some incentive to lose about > > 30 pounds. > > > > I have been kind of down > > about my physical apperance and haven't done anything to improve my > > mood, so I am thinking that taking > > charge of my own body could be a nice start > > > > Wish me luck
Guest guest
hi cristina i am jenn, and i would like to lose 4-6 sizes. i am currently a 16, but would like to be a 10. in mens's jeans i can wear a 36 but the 38's are more comfortable on my hips. i would like to wear a 30 in mens. i just went through my whole depressed about my looks and i do once in a while, btu i also feel really good abotu myself sometimes and this group always makes that better. i am rededicated to cardio i had not been doing so great at that but had been doing weights at the gym and since last week i have been doing both again so i will reach my goal. taking charge is an excellent start, even if you can't afford to go to the gym, because i know i couldn't if my parents hadn't gotten me the membership, walking around the block, doing home excersized, crunches and pushups are all great things to do. jumping rope, riding bikes, rollerblading. you can think of so many fun things and they will all help you feel better about yourself as well as get you on your way to your goal weight or desired look. good luck. -- In weightlossbuddies2 , " lovesd16 " <lovesd16@y...> wrote: > hi, I am new to the list but would like to introduce myself. > My name is Cristina and I need some incentive to lose about > 30 pounds. > > I have been kind of down > about my physical apperance and haven't done anything to improve my > mood, so I am thinking that taking > charge of my own body could be a nice start > > Wish me luck
Guest guest
Hi Diane. The holidays are fun, but there is just too much temptation! Even with what they have at work, if you can eat clean the rest of the day and chug extra water before party time, you'll probably do pretty well. You mentioned too many carbs... do you have a target percentage of carbs vs protein vs fats? I usually shoot for 40-50% protein, 40-50% carb and 20% fat. It's not perfect, and if your doing low carb obviously it doesn't work... but part of the reason I work out is to gain strength and muscle as well as cutting fat... so I have to get a reasonable number of carbs. I'm just asking because if you have a target it helps you to know how each day is going. A lot of days I'll sit down either the night before or first thing in the morning and plan my food for the day... a lot of people do it by the week, but I'm not quite that structured... Anyway, good luck getting through it... just keep working out and feeling better! > Hi All, > > Just wanted to say good morning to everyone. Guest guest
Elana, That is great news on the loss! Congrats! As for the tapes, you can get them at Target, Best Buy, Sams Club, etc. Or, you can purchase them on the net. I think some people got them at half.com, or you can visit her website at http://www.lesliesansone.com I have her Walk Away the Pounds set that included the 1, 2, and 3 mile walk along with the weights (balls you fill with water that equal 1 pound). I also recently bought the Walk Away The Pounds for Abs. Those are older. It's kind of funny watching them because they are older. That set came with a 1,2, and 3 mile videos and the belt. The belt is kind of awkward, and I told my BF that there was NO way he was going to watch me do that one! LOL! Imagine me with this velcro belt aroung my stomach wtih these two stretchy rubber ropes with handles attached comeing out the back. LOL! Ok, the visual is pretty ugly too! HAHA! But overall, I like her videos. Those are the first vidoes I ACTUALLUY enjoyed doing and do on a regular basis. I hope you find them and like them. Each set of 3 vidoes I got for like $30. Not a bad investment at all! Happy Holidays to you too! > hey everyone, > > just wanted to drop a note of what's going on. Guest guest
Elana, That is wonderful! I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. Yes, it is the exercise! Good for you! It will get easier, I promise. You are doing better then me! My daughter is home visiting and we have been on the go so I have not had time to exercise since Friday. I figured when she was back I wouldn't though. I'm just hoping not to gain. I have been eating ok so should be ok. After New Years and Niki leaves (Jan 3) I will get back on my routine and get serious again. I just found out hubby and I are going to Portland, Or for a dealership conference (Lennox) in February so I really hope to at least lose a few before then. Anyway, kudos to you for doing good this time of year! I have seen those tapes in Sam's Club stores. You said you will be in the states? Sorry, I can't remember where everybody is. Where are you? Are you from the states originally? Keep up the great work and have a wonderful and safe holidays. Guest guest
Laurie, Yup, having the attitude, mindset is what will get you there and I know you can do it! Yes it was nice seeing Niki. She is really liking the Army. Just finished AIT now does like a 6 week crash course on nursing then a 40 week like on the job training thing. Not sure where she will be for that. I'm hoping not too far away. Yeah, Mike shocked them at work and took Wed through Sun off. That was really nice! Unfortunately he didn't get to see Niki much. The one weekend she was really around he was stuck on call and out on calls the whole time. Then they tried to stick him with it again this last weekend! I was fit to be tied I tell ya! Apparently (office manager) raised enough of a stink and the guys divided it up. Now Mike took himself out of on call rotation. He is the general manager and buying the company so it's about time! That's about it around here. What's new with you? What was the sad news? I'm sorry. I hope things work out. IM me sometime if you want to talk. I don't talk there much because I'm usually in between housework, working out and checking e-mail but you know, I have it on, so just send me a message and I will answer if I can. Love ya hon and I am glad you are back! HUGS!!! Gena

Guest guest
Jenni, Welcome! I'm Gena, 37, married 19 yrs, have 2 girls 19 and 12. I suggest going back and reading old posts. There is lots of great info. At the risk of sounding like Dr Phil, I don't believe you have no self control. It is lack of desire and motivation maybe but you can do it if you want to. You have to really look at yourself. Do some serious self examination. Really ask yourself why are you overweight? What has led to it? Do you use it for comfort, boredom, anger? Have you just found it easier to not deal with things? Do you think of food as your friend? I can tell you this, it wont stay your friend. It will catch up with you. Speaking of Dr Phil, I highly recommend his Self Matters book and Bob Green's Get With the Program. Both of them talk about the " why " we get over weight. Bob says to work on habits and behaviors that made you heavy before even trying to lose weight. They are both really good. We are all here for the same reason. I was 284 at my heaviest, so far am 205. You can do it. Take it one day at a time. Work on behaviors and habits, portion control, getting more active, making healthier choices. We'll be here for you! Oh and I'm in Alaska. Gena On Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at 12:24 AM, wrote: > Hello everyone, I'm new to the group. Guest guest
Hi Jenni- My name is Jennie too and I'm also 23 and a mother of two young children. I'm in Rhode Island-too bad we're not closer-we could go walking together! :-) I defenitly can relate to how you want so badly to lose weight. My second child really got me huge and I've got alot of skinny friends and I want to wear my old clothes again and look 23!!! What I would suggest to you is try to join weight watchers if you can. I joined 3 weeks ago and I've lost 5.5 lbs. Its such a great support system and you can eat whatever you want. If you cant join a program like WW, I would say just keep busy-dont think about food-do something else. For me, I have to constantly keep moving all day long doing laundry, or playing with the kids, and cleaning the house. Eat breakfast-believe me this helps if your prone to bingeing mid-morning. WALK-I walked last night and felt great. This is a wonderful support group and if you want to chat, or need some motivation, we're here for you. Jennie jennie71379@... Good morning!! I have never been much of a cook like I have said before but I can give some ideas for ligth dinners that dont require much time or cooking experience!! I TOTALLY agree with Miki on the crock pot deal. Even I can throw in some chili (lower fat w/ turkey meat and lots of verggies) together and let it simmer all day and in this weather thats a very welcoming smell to come home to! Same with many soups you can crock all day while working...make a salad when you get home and dinner is served!! I also love love love the boneless skinless chicken filets Wal-Mart sells. They take less than 5 mins to make and you can have one cut into a salad or you make a sandwich with them ..they are very versatile and sooooo tasty. I have the 'fortune' of being able to eat the same thing repeatedly without tiring of it (ok so I got sick of tuna last week but I was over it by this week heheh) so I can eat the same lunch or dinner for days on end without flinching. Tuna really has become a fav though both because its good and because its soooo easy to make. I like it on crackers I like it in salad and I like it just mixed with a little mayo mustard (yes mustard and lol I have been advised how unappealing this is to most folks hehehe) and shredded cheese) straight from a bowl I even like it with green eggs and ham bwwwwwhahahah And hey a quick breakfast in the evening is super easy too!! 2 eggs over medium with a slice of toast or a english muffing bottom and even one or 2 slices of bacon (or turkey bacon which is even easier b/c you can micro it and its still crisp). As for burning calories THINKING about exercise...WOO HOO!!! What a beautiful world THAT would be lmao!!! A lovely lovely thought INDEED!!! Ooooooh man am I dragging this morning...am promising myself RIGHT NOW homework aside and work can get bent..I am going to be in bed by 10pm tonight no excuses SKippity doo-dah ..Skippity aaaaaaaay... My oh my ...my ass is dragging today!! Guest guest
, Oh honey, I didn't know you had crohn's! Hubby, Mike has it and I know what it's like all to well. Just get rest, and get better soon. When Mike has a flare he just goes to bed and doesn't eat. He says he feels too awful to eat. So after sleeping for like 10 hours he'll get up and have some jello or soup or applesauce. I wish he was like you when having a flare! We have had some of our worst arguments about it because he wallows and pushes me away and says he is the one who is sick. I say oh contrair! You don't think I worry myself sick every time? I worry that this is the time he will need surgery. I worry that it might be getting worse and there will be more doc bills. We have no medical ins and he is the sole support of the household but I am the one who handles the money so he has no clue what shape we are in. We are doing good right now but one trip to the E.R would send us back months! That and I worry because I know crohn's kills thousands a year and I can't imagine my life without him! I tell him, just like when my shoulder was bad, before the surgery, how helpless he felt, that is how I feel with his crohn's times 1000 because crohn's does not go away!!!! Sorry, it's you who is sick and here I go rambling. I know we are lucky because we have been able to treat his crohn's naturally. He is not on any meds and has had no surgeries ever or even doc appt in over 2 years. you take care dear. I hope this flare passes soon. Oh and congrads on the 138!!! That is fantastic! Although as I know, with crohn's that is not always the right way to lose. Please, be careful and take care. back when Mike was really sick, he lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks. He looked awful!!! It was soo scary! Hugs, Gena

Guest guest
Yes, tell you neph, for sure. Some people are like that. I managed to go through 25 years of IgAN right to dialysis without having much of a problem with throat and chest infections, but everyone's different. I don't think the IgAN itself causes them, but having them doesn't help the IgAN.
