Guest guest
Hi: I was just wondering why nobody hire a lawyer for the appeal?. As I said, I'm just wondering, I'm new in this and I'm not familiar with the process for appeals, but I have heard that some lawyers doesn't charge anything to the client but instead they charge their fee to the insurance company. What if is possible to find a lawyer who want to work for that amount of money? The amount (percent of) that he/she could obtain from the insurance once the case is won?. Does anydoby have a reccomendation about it? THanks in advance. Ivonne. Guest guest
Hi Ivonne, I don't think I've replied to any of your posts yet, so welcome to the group!! You know, there IS a lawyer specializing in plagio insurance appeals. There may have been a couple of people in this group who have posted about using him or his services, and I think I've read a couple of posts at the Cranial Tech website parents board about him to! Here is his website if you decide to investigate: Ian Doris, PlagioCoach The mission of PlagioCoach is to help you, the parent of a child with Plagiocephaly, win insurance coverage for your child's cranial orthosis by providing you with the information, tools and techniques that I successfully used to win coverage for my daughter's cranial orthosis. http://plagiocoach.com/ Good luck with your appeal, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Hi: > > I was just wondering why nobody hire a lawyer for the appeal?. > As I said, I'm just wondering, I'm new in this and I'm not familiar with the > process for appeals, but I have heard that some lawyers doesn't charge > anything to the client but instead they charge their fee to the insurance > company. > > What if is possible to find a lawyer who want to work for that amount of > money? Guest guest
Hello Ivonne Welcome to the group. I see that Chrisite has given you a great link. I have asked myself as well about the question you have asked. I didn't have to fight our insurance, but I would probably hire someone to do the appeal for me as well. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out. Guest guest
Mostly, MONEY and time are the limiting factors. The good news is that parents can appeal to insurance companies and win. In the " Files " section of this site, there are wonderful example letters and if you go the plagiocephaly.org/support, there is an article about how to deal with insurance companies who don't want to pay. I had to appeal once before my insurance company paid. Since the fight was for my daughter, I acted like an attack dog, out for blood. I was mad as hell. I continually wrote letters to the insurance company, reported them to the state insurance department, called everyday for a status report, sent letters via certified mail and then faxed them to both corporate offices. When I won, yes - I was exhausted but I knew my battle was for my daughter, the most precious person in the world to me. If I had money to pay a lawyer to fight for us, I am not so sure what I would have done. Please do know that you, as a parent, can take action without a lawyer and it is POSSIBLE to win.
