Guest guest
" Do dried fruits count as cooked fruits for the early stages of the diet? " No, dried fruits are not cooked. They are actually harder to digest than raw fruits and should not be introduced until all digestive symptoms have disappeared (not for probably 6 months). Guest guest
" Not the answer I was hoping for " Doesn't it stink when you don't get the answer your looking for? I get really tired of it too. Sorry to be the bearer of the unwanted answer. I've had too many days of those " wrong answers " around here...LOL. Does your child not like cooked fruit? Some moms have been cooking the fruit, pureeing it and then making popsicles out of it. Seems to be quite the hit with some of the kids. My kids don't really like ripe bananas, but they will eat them frozen. They really taste a lot like ice cream when they are frozen. I just peel ripe bananas and stick them in freezer containers and freeze them. Once they are frozen, I get them out and use a sharp knife to cut them into slices. My boys gobble them down. If you want the banana to look more like ice cream, put the ripe banana in a food processor and blend it up. Then put it in a bowl and freeze it. When you take it back out of the freezer, it will be like banana ice cream. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 14 months
Guest guest
I really like Jody's ideas for creative cooked fruit. doesn't like to eat it just plain either, as in pearsauce or applesauce. However, I've said it before, but the boy will eat almost anything in his " smoothie " . So, last night I put a couple of heaping tablespoons of VERY smooth pearsauce (I love my new cuisinart, btw, 79.99 on amazon - free shipping) in his smoothie. He drank it down without a blink. It was just pineapple juice, water, a little avacado, and the pearsauce. Not too thick. You could add cinnamon, vanilla, or honey, too. Also, just a little more about the dried fruit - it's harder to digest because, for one thing, the fruit sugars are very concentrated when it is dehydrated. I tried some with even after a few months SCD, and it was too much for him. I think I'd try homemade banana chips first if I decided to try again. Take care, son - , almost 5yo, ASD, SCD 1 year
