Guest guest
Hi , If you check out our files section there are pictures of the casting process and there are quite a few in other members' photo folders as well. It is helpful to bring someone with you for the casting to help hold her down. By daughter recently had her third casting at 15 mos and she's VERY fiesty, but she did just fine. My husband just held her arms still and she was free to kick her feet all she wanted! It doesn't hurt them at all, but I think they just get so upset at having to stay still! I'd bring a bottle if she takes one and a lollipop. I looked at 's pics and she's very cute! I love the " so cute when they're sleeping " one! , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > ok i am so curious as to how they cast the band. i know it is plaster > of paris...but how on earth are we going to get my very active 7 > month to hold still?? also any hints on making her more comfortable > with the process would be great. Guest guest
, is beautiful! The casting is rough but it happens fairly quickly. Some have used a bottle or lollipop to calm them. My son screamed the whole time but it was short. It is worth it, trust me. natasha > ok i am so curious as to how they cast the band. i know it is plaster > of paris...but how on earth are we going to get my very active 7 > month to hold still?? also any hints on making her more comfortable > with the process would be great. Guest guest
- I am not sure if you have been there but www.cappskids.org has pics of the casting process. I think it is for the helmet-but it really helped ease my mind to see " how " they do it. My girl is 9 mon and did just fine. They warn you that it might be hard on mom to watch your child cry but it only took maybe 5 minutes and then it is done and she did just fine. They had her sit on a techs lap facing out while another tech sat facing her. Then yet another tech put on the plaster and it only took 3 quick strips. The worst part is when she faces the floor and she can't see you but that is only one strip which took about 1 minute. Then they sat her up and she could see me again and was fine. They suggested a nuk or a if your child has never had juice before that is a good distraction. They also said I could try a sucker for the first time. I didn't even need anything because it just plain went so fast. The caps kids website says to bring extra clothes but they had me take my girls clothes off and they put a thin shirt over her that they just cut off after words. No mess at all. Hope this helps.
