Guest guest
Marilyn, What about taking the pearsauce and freezing in ice cube trays with popsicle sticks stuck in them? Blessings, Doreen asd 12, scd day 23 Re: son has lost weight/ attractive snacks Hi Marilyn as snacks: what about homemade juiced raw carrots put in fancy cups with straws or pureed veggies such as butternut squash drink thru a straw calling it " juice " or some fancy name (I used to give him jarred baby food with a straw calling them juice -I hide supplements in them. but now everything is homemade) that banana/egg pancake may be yummy may package some homemade food in Mcs/commercial containers? sorry I don't have many suggestions my son uses the weirdest things as " snacks " or ABA reinforcers: lamb riblets, spoonfuls of halved avocado cup o broth, meats chopped small, boiled peas in a paper rolled cone, banana peeled, chicken drummettes (small drumsticks) etc since my 3 year old is in a 40 hours/week home ABA program his diet is much easier to control when he is out on playdates, I watch him like a hawk or he'll gobble up stray pieces of cheerios, cookies, chips, etc hope others will give you good tips I simply do not expose him to typical standard american commercially prepared foods, so he does not know what he's missing most part and I glamorize all healthy foods with homemade jingles we have the " chick-chick-chick-chick-chicken " broadway song and the " we love yummy soup " song and the " yummy vegetables " song Jzin > Wow! I hope to see results like that!!! > What did you feed him for snacks during the transition? > Caleb is such a picky eater, all he will eat for snacks is potato chips, french fries or pear and of course any cookie or cupcake (gfcf) if I would make it. The baked goods are the first thing that I have removed but he still begs for them and I feel sooo guilty. All of his friends have junk food at preschool and playgroup and it makes him sad . > > marilyn carroll- caleb 5yo transitioning to scd >] For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
" He's also having a hard time with the peas and carrots that are not canned. He's gagging because of the smell and say's they taste different. the same with fresh green beans instead of canned. " Cook them longer. Put a lid on the pan and simmer them for a long time until they get very soft. Canned veggies are very soft and the frozen ones take a long time to get that soft. Also, most canned veggies are very salty. You might try adding more salt while they are cooking. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 14 months
