Hi Lynda,

Hope you're feeling better now? I just wanted to tell you I can

relate to what you are saying about exhaustion. I've been on

differing doses of Armour & Levothyroxine since November last year &

am now on Armour 3 grains daily. Every time I switch doses, & even

when I started taking it sublingually (same dose), I get episodes of

fatigue where I've just had to go to bed.

I have also felt a kind of generalised discomfort in my thyroid

region at times (although I had most of mine chopped out in 1998).

I think that getting used to thyroid treatment & changing doses is

all ups & downs, & is a matter of time. How long though I don't

know.

I'm also in the UK. How long have you been on Armour? Did you get

your GP to prescribe it? And are you seeing an NHS endocrinologist

or did you have go privately?

My GP prescribes Armour although I believe it's pretty rare. My Endo

on the NHS was a deaf sadist who made me think I was a

hypochondriac. I pay to see top thyroid doctor Skinner now, he's ace.

> I had been feeling much better the last 2 weeks or so. Then this

morning I was doing some work on the computer, I had been busy for

about half an hour, when suddenly I felt completely overcome by

exhaustion. I have not felt so overwhelmed for a long time. My

throat started hurting, not as in a sore throat but more like a pain

first at one side of my thyroid then it moved over to the other side.

> I increased my armour by a quarter grain yesterday and I was

wondering if it could have had this effect. I have not experienced

this before when I have increased the dosage. Any ideas?

deaths and marriages for a genealogy site called FreeBMD. If any of

you have English or Welsh ancestors you might like to have a look at

it. It is not yet complete, a whole load of volunteers are working

on it and they expect it to be complete by 2007.

Hi Fee

good to hear from you.

I am feeling better now, only the one day of exhaustion, so perhaps it was the

increase of armour that caused it.

I am self-treating and I buy my armour on the internet.

I also saw Dr Skinner and thought he was good but my doc didn't agree with him

and threatened to fire me if I kept taking the thyroxine that Dr Skinner

prescribed.

So, ok, I am not taking thyroxine anymore and he does not know that I am taking

armour <g> Can't lose him as a GP as there is such a shortage where I live.

As long as he keeps signing my sick notes that's all I need him for (and that's

probably all he is good for too)

>When I told him 80mcg of thyroxine, he looked at my notes and said

>that it hadn't been rxd for me and where was I getting it from.

What a JERK of a doctor that is!!!!! He not only threatens you, he

also tells you to get WORSE by getting off a thyroid meds. Do I

smell a bit of professional jealousy here?? At least it ended up

turning you in a positive direction towards Armour. Amazing.

yeah, he is a jerk. I am seeing him only when I need to with run of the mill

stuff. I also need him to give me a certificate every six months to satisfy my

insurance company as I am claiming sickness benefit from them. That only pays

out for 2 years so once that is up I will need to see him even less <g>
