" At first I assumed all dairy was never really a problem until my

son had an infraction. He got into my carton of commercial yogurt I

use as starter. He had diarrhea, tantrums and was very hyper. I

still don't understand it all but all I know is he is OK with SCD

legal diary. From what I read on lists, it appears he is the

exception rather than the rule. As I continue to read, I realize

there is no rule - some can handle SCD legal diary, some can only

handle goat's while others cannot handle any. "

,

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm reading the

book, " The Untold Story of Milk " and it is very interesting.

Basically saying that we should not be drinking commercial milk

because of feeding practices, antibiotics, and pasteurization.

Pasteurization kills all the enzymes that aid in digestion. So I've

been wondering would raw milk be ok for a lot of these kids? Like

you said, every child is different, but I think it would be

interesting to see if raw milk was tolerated. I keep thinking of

Bernard Rimland's story of how his son could not tolerate cow's milk

but was ok with reindeer milk. I'm pretty sure that reindeer milk

must have been raw and the reindeer were probably free-range and

grass fed.

So I'm really thinking about trying the raw milk to make yogurt for

the kids (I already do for myself). I'll let you all know when I

do, and let you know of any reactions I see.

Does anybody else have thoughts on this?

Dr. Mercola also seems to have something to say about raw milk. I'll

try & find.

Hi Gia,

You have brought up a very interesting topic. I have written some of

my recollections.

One mother on our list gave her son yogurt made from raw goat milk.

She then changed to yogurt made from pateurized goat milk and noticed

that her son was not doing as well as he had on the yogurt made from

raw goat milk. Could it be that better results are gotten from yogurt

made from raw goat milk? Maybe.

Does that mean that only yogurt made from raw goat milk is beneficial?

No,becuase Jen Young and other mothers got great results using yogurt

made from pateurized goat milk.

Is raw cow milk better than pateurized goat milk for the yogurt? That

is what a mother on our list decided. She could not find any raw goat

milk in her state so she decided to discontinue the yogurt made from

pateurized goat milk. Instead, she made yogurt from raw cow milk but

her daughter reacted terribly to the raw cow milk yogurt

Fortunately, the reaction went away after a few days and the mother

went back to goat yogurt.

Every child is different, but my guess is that the best option for many

of our kids is raw goat milk.

Wishing that there would be more studies on this subject,

Mimi

No, I buy milk and eggs locally from a friend. It often comes and is still

warm. Very good for us and a lot cheaper than storebought.
