Guest guest
Hello everyone this is Carolyn & I wanted to ask for all your opinions. Am I wrong if I dont take Noah to his next doctors appointment to see Dr.Harbison next week? I have thought about this over & over & I think that right now things are going good for Noah so why should I put him through more torture? He crys the minute a doctor or nurse touches him because he has seen so many in the 11 months of his life. I spoke to my Pediatrican today (because Noah has a cold) & he said " why should I push Noah if everything is Ok now " . He also said that Dr. H hasnt gotten intouch with him & that bothers me to. My Pediatrican gave me a number for me to call to get Noah physical theropy & I am going to do that but to drag him to Manhatten for what? To see if he has a thyroid problem? I can do that here. Just because he is " Pudgy " doesnt mean he has any problems just means he " LOVES " to eat. Ok be honest " Am I wrong " ? Thanks so much for listening....Carolyn (My3Sons-Noah w/RSS)
Guest guest
Carolyn, I think that it is very important for you to keep that appointment with Dr. Harbison. Noah may not need any intervention now, but if he does in the future (such as gh treatments) she will have the necessary data to support using that method of treatment. You need to have ONE doctor who will do the measurements on a regular basis and in the same way each and every time. She will also be able to monitor his growth and watch out for any asymmetry that may become more obvious, or be able to flag anything else that may develop that someone who is not as familiar with RSS would not necessarily notice. However, if it is not convenient for you to take Noah next week, then call up and change the appointment. Perhaps if it is too much to go every three months, you could talk to Dr. Harbison and change it to every six months for a little while. As for her not calling your pediatrician, I hate to say it, but I am not surprised. She is not too good in that department. The best way for your doctor to get in touch with her is to call her after 4 when the office calms down. Sometimes she even answers the phone herself. I do know that she goes away to Hawaii, but I don't think that is until the mid to end of February. Then she goes away for three weeks. Hang in there, Carolyn. It is easy to want to not follow up, but you may be sorry if you don't - in the long run, that is. I know you don't want to hear that answer, yet I have learned from experience. Guest guest
I already sent the other email, but oh, I wish I could have talked to you before. Dr. H, no matter how good she is, has had HORRIBLE office staff always. They are among the worst. We were told it is the hospital that hires the receptionist/office staff, not the doctors. Who knows. But we have had just awful experience with the office staff at Dr. H. I wish you had been able to talk to Dr. H before cancelling your appt. S.
