Hi,

My daughter had the same thing. I too was told it was nothing to

worry about. She'll be 3 in July and is fine.

Hi Dave,

Thats great that the neuro is open to whatever you decide to do.

Have you guys made a decision? I'm glad had some input on the

fluid on the brain for you. Did you ped feel the same?

Hi Dave,

I have never heard about the excessive fluid, but I see that

has already replied to youa bout it. You are very fortunate to have

a Neuro willing to support your decision, whatever that may be. Many

folks are not so " lucky. " Please let us know what you and Michele

decide to do with Brett.

Hi Dave,

I don't know anything about excess fluid on the brain, and haven't

so far read about any association with plagio. I know you'll get

some responses of similar situations, since some of the exams some

of our plagio babies are referred for may bring to light something

similar!

What a relief that your neuro will support your decision no matter

what it is, regarding Brett's treatment. It is, however, common to

hear about specialists not believing a case of plagio is serious

enough to warrent helmeting or banding, even when the baby could

benefit from it. What kind of severity would you rate Brett? Does

he have any of the common, accompanying facial asymmetry, forehead

bossing, or ear misalignment? There are some severity assessment

forms in the LINKS/SEVERITY ASSESSMENT FORMS section of the group

that you may find helpful. My own pediatrician and also the neuro

that we took our daughter Remy to see, also felt she was too mild

for any treatment, even though in the side view of her head she

looked as flat as a board! We ended up using aggressive

repositioning only to treat our daughter's plagio, and her progress

photos are in the PHOTOS/BEFORE AND AFTER/REPOSITIONED folder. With

Brett having tort, repo will not be an option for him, however.

Would you let us know if we can be of help if you have any concerns

or questions?

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)

Thanks everyone for replying to our concerns about Brett. So far

only has heard of the excess fluid on the brain, but if anyone

else hears of it please let us know. Our ped told me not to worry

about it at this point...I think I am worried anyway! I guess the

neuro md was concerned becuase Brett's head has grown so rapidly

(from the 45th percentile at birth to 95th at 5 1/2 months).

I checked the severity assessment form would rate Brett at a ten (I

came up with nine, my father with eleven and Dave with ten). I guess

that would be moderate to severe? Certainly the tort plays into

this, too.

We are going to go ahead with banding and are in the process of

trying to get approval from our insurance company.
