Guest guest
Mark, Yes, I took my daughter to the Yale clinic and they said it's not necessary to band. Even Lynne from Cranial Tech seems not so sure that if correct can be achieved. She said chances are 50:50. Do you have the asyemmetry number from the measurements for your son? Carolyn has 8mm. I wonder how much change in this number before and after banding. Thanks, Chen in CT > > Hi All, > > My daughter Carolyn is 12.5 months. Guest guest
Hi Chen, was not measured by Yale or Lynne but was measured in Boston. He measured at 9 mm. Don't know the final measurement as no more were ever taken as we used the prescription from Yale and not Boston so we never saw the Boston doc again. Measurement can vary quite a bit (i.e. difficult to take because no definite landmarks) so I wouldn't go a whole lot by those. Lynne's assessment without measuring was the same as the Boston doc's assesment using measurements. We were pleased with the change in 's headshape and some of the changes could not really be quantified eg. head become more rounded off at the corners rather than " squared " looking. Lynne won't give you any guarantees because that would be fair to neither you nor her. You obviously felt that your child's headshape was not normal. thus leading you to seek treatment. I personally would almost always choose to band, even with a 50:50 chance of improvement. It all depends on how well Carolyn grows during the next 4 months. I guess my take is what do you have to lose by banding? Sorry, I don't mean to push you toward banding, the choice is totally yours to make. Do what you feel comfortable with. The only thing is that if you don't band then will you regret not trying it down the road? Mark in Maine p.s. Guest guest
Mark, Thanks for the information. I looked at the photo of and glad to see that he's got wonderful results. As for what I have to loose, it's money (my insurance Anthem BCBS is not covering it) and time. But as you said, I don't won't to regret down the road either. So I probably will try it.
