Guest guest
Janice, I had never heard of this product before! Thank you for posting about it. This product could be very useful to repo'ing parents who are using various sleep positioners, wedges, etc. inside the crib, as an added safety net since there are items inside the crib with the baby. Would you take a look at this link I found, and tell me if this is the product you heard about? I think it detects the " movement " of breathing, if I read the descriptions correctly. I would like to add it to the repo links, if it's the right one: AngelCare Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor Stop worrying while your baby sleeps! The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements, and the Nursery Unit receives the signal and sounds a " no-movement " alarm that is picked up by the portable Parents Unit. If absolutely no movement is detected for 20 seconds, the alarm will sound. http://www.bebewing.com/saftey-monitors.shtml Let me know, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Hi, > > I've heard some parents talk about an " Angel Monitor " that keeps > check on the baby's breathing and it sounds an alarm if the baby > stops breathing. > > I'm thinking I wish I'd had this for my two babies and just slept > them on their stomach! Guest guest
Hi Christie, That's probably it but I don't really know this product either. I have asked who also responded to my post for the name of this product because says she uses it and loves it. Gosh, I'm thinking all of our little ones would have nice round heads if only we had used this product! Janice - trying not to feel annoyed! > > Hi, > > > > I've heard some parents talk about an " Angel Monitor " that keeps > > check on the baby's breathing and it sounds an alarm if the baby > > stops breathing. > > > > I'm thinking I wish I'd had this for my two babies and just slept > > them on their stomach! Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to mention that we used this product from the day came home until he was about one year old. We actually bought the version without the sound monitor as we had our own sound monitor. We did have 4 or 5 false alarms over the course of a year (makes your heart stop when it goes off) and I know others have had more but I don't think I could do without this product (paranoid first-time parent). It is a very, very sensitive movement monitor. I'm not sure about tummy sleeping even with this monitor before the baby is able to roll tummy to back though (although after dealing with plagio I have certainly questioned tummy sleeping vs. back-sleeping occasionally). Remember that the alarm goes of with 1 beep after 15 seconds then steady beeping 5 seconds after that. This means that the alarm sounds 20 seconds after your baby STOPS BREATHING. Not sure if I would want to increase the risk of that happening by tummy sleeping (and having to deal with a non-breathing baby) by tummy sleeping before they could roll front to back. I just mention this because someone suggested having babies tummy sleep and to just use this monitor. Just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Mark, Thank you for posting a helpful review of this product! I wish I had heard of it with Remy - what a comfort it would have been, even with the occasional false alarms! I agree it's very important to adhere to the back to sleep campaign to reduce the risk of SIDS, even with the added safety net of using the AngelCare Monitor. Repo can be accomplished without tummy sleeping, and I appreciate your mentioning the safety concern.
