Guest guest
Fee, how were you doing your sublingual method?? Were you spacing it out during the day? Because you could get it all done in the morning and get the same great results you are getting now...and more. Biologically, it is factually more advantageous to do your med ssublingually since nearly 100% of the hormones are used by going directly to the bloodstream and bypassing the acids in the stomach and the processing of the liver. You are also losing out on some of the calcitonin by swallowing due to your stomach acids. It's not that swallowing will hurt you, at all! It will work. You are just not getting the full benefit that sublingual gives you. Let us know...I am very curious. Guest guest
Hi Carol!!! It may not be the sublingual that's not working for you. It might be that you just need to take all your thyroid in the morning, but still sublingually. Biologically, sublingual method of introducing meds to the body has a factual result. It bypasses the acids of the stomach and the processing of the liver. So maybe it's " when " you do it, rather than how?? Janie ) > This is an interesting post. I've always done it sublingualy and it > didn't do what I thought it would do. I'm currently on 4 grains and > still don't have the energy I need. I might try doing it the other > way. Guest guest
Hi Janie. I do understand the reason for sublingual. However, if it works better for someone doing it the other way I just thought it might do so for me. Not that it makes any sense as to why. LOL I have been taking it all in the morning. I was dividing it but kept forgetting and eating cheese or milk. So I gave up and take it all in the A.M. so I don't have to worry about food the rest of the day. I'm still going the allergy route. If it doesn't make a difference to swallow it I will go back the other way for sure. Thanks. Hugs, Carol B > Hi Carol!!! Guest guest
Hiya Carol, I can't really answer your question as I was always swallowing the Armour & was fine, but then switched & tried taking it sublingually for the last 10 days, which I didn't get on so good with. Today I went back to just swallowing it again & I seem to be back on track already. My opinion is that different meds work better taken in different ways for different people! I understand Armour isn't designed to be taken sublingually - not meaning it can't be - but maybe in some people it is better swallowed. A girl from another group sent me this link from ThyroidUK: " One major advantage of taking drugs sublingually or buccally is that the hepatic first-pass metabolism is bypassed so buccal/sublingual administration provide improved delivery for drugs that are inactivated by liver enzymes. I would guess that thyroid meds need to reach the liver as quickly as possible for conversion purposes, so oral administration might be more effective. " > Thanks X. Starting tomorrow I will try it. Guest guest
Hi Janie super star, > Fee, how were you doing your sublingual method?? Were you spacing it out during the day? Janie, I tried a couple of ways, 2 grains at around 7.30am, then 1 at 12pm, then I tried in 3 doses, say 7.30, 11.30, 2.30. I really feel I gave it a good shot sublingually but maybe for certain people there's something in the thyroid meds needing to reach the liver as quickly as poss for conversion purposes via the stomach? I will be going up to 3.5 then 4 grains soon... can't wait to feel well, it's been nearly 5 months now since I first went on Armour, it's great.
