Doing the smaller meals, more often, sure does seem to help with energy

levels and mental faculties, I think. With our bodies struggling with all

the adjustments and healing with all of this, I honestly feel that having

smaller meals makes it easier for our bodies to process the food. With a

large, heavy meal, our bodies have to work so hard to digest everything

and then take the excesses calories and turn them to fat... then during

the long period of time going without a meal the body has to break down

the fat to provide energy calories.... Lot's of extra work, making and

breaking down fat all the time.

Since I've started doing 'mini-meals' in October (I do 5 to 7 a day to

keep in a calorie range of 1700 to 2200) I have higher energy levels,

dropped enough weight to have my pants fall off when I walk (to the point

where my suspenders couldnt' even keep them up - they were so loose that

the only thing keeping them up was the suspenders and they couldn't hold

up the pants!)

I'm still too big for a scale. But in the 'volume' of me that I've lost,

I've no doubt that the mini-meals were THE trick for me. I'm not low

carbing, or even really counting calories anymore. I did for the first

four months or so... But now have it worked out to portion sizes.

.... anyway... just sharing some of the things that seem to have been

positive for me....

Debbie,

I used to weight on the freight scales at my last job.. but they closed

down.. that's why I'm not there anymore...

I'm just a big person. Mom pumped us with calcium when we were little,

concerned for our bones and teeth, so I have heavy bones. I'm 5'10, so

taller than the average, as well. When I was lifting (I was a body

builder before I stormed) I weighed 277 and had held that for over 5

years. When I had my body fat done, the BMI, I was measured at 21%, so I

really didnt' have any fat to lose. The only way I could lose weight was

to lose muscle, and no way was I doing that....

I had to go in for labs and such for my job (working with insecticides we

got monthly blood screens), so I got weighed a lot. You know how you step

on the scale and the nurse starts adjusting the slide weights? It never

failed, as heavy as I was they still shot the hundred pound slide to the

100 pound mark and then shot the tens up into the upper end, then waited

for the thing to balance... then I'd slide it up to the 200 mark..... So

even to nurses, who weighed folks all the time, they guessed me 100

pounds less that I was!

I dropped to the low 200's with the storm, then I had the RAI and shot up

to 311 (that sucked, I was in every other week for weight in and labs - I

had to watch it go up) and even held that way for three years, but it was

not solid muscle, I jiggled..... But then, as the years went by, that

creeped up... But the point is, I've not fit on a bathroom scale since

about 3 months after my RAI, that's how quickly I gained weight...

They do make scales that weight over 300, but they are premium

priced...... I bought a 300 pound scale the same day I got my pedometer,

two weeks ago. I took it in the bathroom and used it and my dad's scale

to weight me.... one foot on each scale. I got my number and then put my

scale here in the office. I didn't need to advertise to company that I

was so big I needed two scales! A week later I carried the new scale back

into the bathroom and it's broken. I have no idea why.. but it only goes

to 60 pounds now. I've jiggled and shook it but it didn't help... then I

had Ruth bounce around on it, she's under 200, to see if she could wiggle

it loose.... but it's stuck... I have no idea what I did when I picked it

up and carried it in here... No, I didn't put my full weight on it, I

leaned on the bathroom counter until both feet were in place then shifted

over... and neither scale went over 200 (oh gosh.. that sounds horrid!

but they didn't!!! hehehehehe).

I'm not concentrating as hard on losing weight right now... that's why

I'm letting my calorie range go all the way up to 2200.... I'm having

problems with skin..... It's not tightening up with the weight loss as

well as I'd hoped.... It's doing okay in my legs, upper arms and back..

but the budha belly and inner thighs are still a problem. I hoping that

that will get better as more of the fat comes out of it... then the skin

can pull in. So I'm still losing, but not as quickly... I'm hoping the

skin will catch up.... I don't have money for a body lift to take care of

the extra skin... so I need to find a way to convince my body that it's

worth working at, even at my age!

I can't afford oils and lotions... I've been concentrating on massage,

and about a week ago I started skin brushing..... Trying to stimulate

the skin. It's been doing good for my legs, butt and arms.. but that dern

belly is still bothering me.

.... how's that for a fun, new challenge?
