Hey, I didn't see this last time either, but, Hashi can go back and forth in the

beginning from hyper to hypo and back again. I was at normal weight and

drastically lost weight. My TSH which was all that was tested was 2. I felt

hypo. As a matter of fact, the tests changed every time, a common Hashi thing.

When the thyroid went kaboom was 4 years later.

Here's one more Leila :)

Here's another I posted to you. I don't know if you got this one

either.

Umm, is there such a condition where you vary back and forth between

hyper

Leila,

Yes there is a condition where you can be hyper & hypo, but it is

rare. You would have both Hashimoto's and Grave's disease. The only

way to find that out is anti-body testing. I would bet that a year

HI,

It's so hard for me to remember if I went hyper with the Hashi's,

but I think I probably did. I have always been thin. The symptoms

have waxed and waned for years. I mean, I really believe in my heart

of hearts that my problems becan around puberty. I remember one day

I went to a friends farm and went swimming in their pool. I got all

ichy and my eyes were ichy so bad. My nose started to run and I was

sneezing like crazy. That was the first time I had ever experienced

an allergy attack. My mom thought I was allergic to the hay, ever

since that day I had horrible allergies. This came right out of the

blue. I had been tested at 5 for allergies (you know, those old

tested with dye and a zillion needles they stick in your back). I

had no known allergies then. Anyway, I have an article that states

that allergies are common with Hashi's patients. One year after the

allergies started, I got my first heart palpitation...and symptoms

accumulated from then on. I asked the endo and he dismissed it and

said that Hashi's is a progressive disease. He didn't seem to

believe me when I said I have had symptoms that have waxed and waned

for around 15-17 years. I guess it is all in my head. It always was.

So darn frustrating! Even my own mother is still making excuses for

me and asking me to get a second opinion....I tried to explain that

the anti-bodies test is pretty darn definative. I have just asked

her recently to just stand behind me and trust my judgement. I know

my body better than anybody. I have lived in it for 32 years now, so

I better! This is one crazy disease that can make anybody go loopy,

mainly from the lack of validation that we get.

I never had allergies until about age 40. I tease my dh by telling him

he gave them to me. I now beleive that was one of my early signs of

thyroid problems. I suppose it's different if you are born with them,

but to have them come on later in life is another story.
