Barb,

I am certainly not the medical expert but I don't belive the second

article you sighted relates to PSC. The first does indeed

mention " sclerosing cholangitis " but it is difficult to tell in

trying to descipher the medical jargon whether there is a direct

relationship or it is simply a co-existing condition.

Sclerosing referes to the hardening of tissue, veins, ducts, etc. but

can be used in different contexts. By pairing it with the word

cholangitis, this is what directly relates it the bile ducts. I am

sure Aubrey can correct me if I am incorrect, just wanted to make

sure the correct information was out there.

sclerosis , hardening (pop)

cholangitis , bile duct inflammation (pop)

aubrey wrote "I believe the gold standard for diagnosis of PSC remains the ERCP. Biopsy diagnosis is difficult because of the size of the sample." aubrey, of course you're right! (what was i thinking? because, yes, you're removing this teeny-tiny section from something as big as a football. or even larger.)

thanks, aubrey! and here's a saturday morning question: how does the liver regeneration process factor into psc-diseased livers becoming so enlarged, over time?
