Guest guest
Hi Deana, Welcome to the group. Both bands are good. The main difference between the 2 is with the STARband you have to really interview the potential orthotist. Not all orthotists who treat plagio babies w/the STARband have experience. These bands in the wrong, inexperienced hands can and do cause more harm. Experience is KEY and a MUST. With the DOCband you know you're getting an orhotist with plenty of experience in treating babies with plagiocephaly it's all they do. In the files section is a chart comparing the 2 bands. Please let us know what you decide. Good luck making your decision. > Hi, > My son is 7 months old and we have just gotten a referral for > a CT scan and to a pediatric neurosurgeon. Guest guest
Thanks for replying so quickly. Are you familiar with the starscanner for the starband? Is it more accurate and does it require less expertise by the orthotist?
Guest guest
Deana, From what I understand the most accurate way to get the shape of a baby's head is through traditional casting. It doesn't matter if the STARscanner is used, if the orhto doesn't have experience your baby won't be in good hands. Experience is a must, I can't stess that enough. We have had more than one, more than 5 members whose babies plagio got worse or lost precious correction time due to an ill fitting STARband due to an inexperienced ortho. Don't get me wrong in the RIGHT hands the STARband is a great product. > Thanks for replying so quickly. Are you familiar with the > starscanner for the starband?
