Guest guest
Hi Everybody, was banded two weeks ago and has a red spot on his forehead that won't go away. He didn't sleep in the band Saturday night and his forehead looked great all day Sunday and he wore the band all day. He slept in the band last night and had a red spot this morning so I took him into Cranial Tech. 's headsicle was in and this really opened up my eyes. The ortho showed me that not only does have right sided plagio but his forehead is very out of shape in a complicated way. It has a flat slope in the front along with a bulge on the flat side with the forehead flatter on the other side. It's hard to explain but easy to see why they are holding 's forehead at this bulging spot in hopes of filling out the flat side along with growth upward where it is sloping. Since his forehead looked great when he wore the band all day but not the night prior the Ortho is sure it is from rubbing while he is sleeping (Tummy Sleeper). She said the skin looks VERY healthy. She did adjust it and put moleskin inside the band to help with the rubbing. She gave me a piece to replace it every week. She saw some small improvement to 's head so that was encouraging. I feel so much better about his fit after this mornings appointment. The neuro surgeon let us make the decision on banding and we struggled but after we got his "Mug Shots" last week I am so happy we went forward with the band. Seeing his headsicle today confirmed we made the right decision. I had no idea his forehead was shaped so weird. If there are any parents on the fence about banding your little one and your near a Cranial Tech office my suggestion would be to get a consult appointment with pictures to help with your decision. Thanks for the support from all of the wonderful Ladies/Mommies this last week. 's banding journey didn't start out as smooth as I wished but we are on the right track now and he seems oblivious to the whole thing. He started pulling himself to standing last week and that's his number one focus. Thanks, (Mommy to , 8 months, DocBand 7/12/04, Woodridge, IL)
