Guest guest
Carly, Sounds like you're having the same problem that I did when I first started on Synthroid, after my RAI... I couldn't take it very well at all... And your labs are showing that you sure do need to be adding..... And you are swallowing it...... Want to try something...???? The quarter grain that you are taking now, is it a single tab? If it is can you split it? If you don't have a pill splitter or a single edged razor blade don't worry about that, yet... try this little test first... Split or bite the tab in half.... then take a half and split or bite it in half to give you a quarter tab..... now take a quarter tab when you first get up, slip it under your tongue.. don't swallow... then get up and dress/shower, whatever, by the time you've finished that the tab should be dissolved, you can eat your breakfast... see how your tummy does with that..... If it does okay.... take another quarter tab, under your tongue about a half hour before lunch... then eat normally.... Do it again about half way inbetween lunch and supper.... with a bit of a snack, like your cracker.... and your last dose timed with supper..... See how your tummy does.... Mine was horrid the first 2 years after I started.... I only had synthetics and the only way I could tolerate taking it that first two years was to split into three doses and swallow them after eating a meal... With the Naturals.. we have the ability to do them sublingually, and get the meds right into the blood stream, so less stress to the tummy.... but since your's is acting up.. I'm thinking to eat something after.... to keep the tummy occupied.... You should know the first day how your tummy is going to handle it..... and if this does the trick for you..... you can allow your body time to adjust... and then go from there..... I know multi-dosing is a bother... but if it's the difference between feeling better and not... I think it's worth it.... after my system adjusted I could handle the dose in the morning without getting nauseous..... so it's not a forever thing.... I multi-dose now because it makes me feel better... AND I honestly believe that it's helping my body with all the healing that it has to do.... I was underdosed for many, many years... and then when I lost my insurance and couldn't afford to go to a doc... I went for three years pretty much with no meds at all... so my poor bod has had a lot of healing to do... If you decide to try the little experiment... let me know how it goes.... we can keep tweaking until we find out what your body needs until it can adjust.... Adrenals are best to do early in the day..... but, first.. lets see if we can get your tummy to settle down.... Topper () *who often wishes that my body was tougher and not such a baby!!!! heheheheheh* On Fri, 27 Feb 2004 15:19:52 -0000 " sososleepy " writes: > Hi , > Thank you for responding:) > My labs before starting synthroid > Oct-03 > FT4-1.1 r-0.8-1.8 > FT3-300 r-230-420 > Tsh-1.53 r-0.40-5.50 > > labs 1-04 after synthroid > FT4-1.3 > FT3-269 > Tsh-2.36 > ref same as above > > My DR perscribed 112mcg synthroid but couldn't tolerate that dose. > I'm taken the armour now 1/4g at 9:00am a couple hrs after eating > breakfast. Guest guest
For someone that needs the cortisol like you do, it is not the same as people that are just taking it for fatigued adrenals. You can die without it. It is like taking iron for low iron count, or thyroid meds with an underactive thyroid. Re: armour is wiring me out, help!! I'm ready to give up:( Hi , Thanks so much for respondinf to my post. I have been on adrenal support (cortef) since Sep but just resently went from 20 to 25mg. My DR wants me on 30mg which i do take but not everyday cause it constipates me. I think it is possible that even though i have been on cortef since Sep that i am still fighting with weak adrenals. I think this because a couple of weeks ago i passed out and my endo put me on a crisis dose of steroids 100mg. He then tapered me down to my current dose 25- 30mg. When i was between 40 and 50mg i felt alot better and didn't feel like i was going to pass out when on my feet. I have been sick for many yrs so it may take a long time to get this worked out. Also, while on the higher dose i felt calm. No wired tired feeling. I was taken my daughter for walks outside which i never do cause i'm afraid i will pass out. I don't think it's a good idea to take such high doses of steriods everyday but i sure felt better then i do now. I'm going to discuss this with my endo at my next visit. It is difficult when one reacts to the meds like we do. I wish it were easier to figure it all out. My brain is so washed that i feel like i'm in a fog 24/7. I know it must be very difficult to feel bad and take care of a 1 and 3 yr old. I hope and pray we both find answers soon. I love my daughter more then anything and just want to be able to plan a day with her doing fun things. I know how you feel . Hang in there. Somehow we have to get well. Guest guest
Did we ask about your ferritin and female hormones like estrogen and progesterone? Re: armour is wiring me out, help!! I'm ready to give up:( Hi, Thank so much your for your concern. Don't worry i do take my cortef everyday as perscribed. The only thing i don't do is take that extra 5mg unless i really need it. I may take 25 one day and 30 the next. I used to be on 20mg but he increased my dose because i was still tired and dizzy. He said i could stay on the 20mg if i wanted but to try increasing to 30 to see how i feel. The 30mg doesn't change the dizziness or fatigue. Acually i don't think i feel any difference in the 5 mg except that it constipates me. My DR thinks the tyroid is really what is going to help with the dizziness and fatigue. I am not tolerating much of the tyroid though. Hopefully it will make the difference. Thank you for helping:) Car
Guest guest
My ferritin was 20 and those are low numbers. My DR has a web site goodhormonehealth.com. He has me taking 325 mg of ferrous sulfate 3x a day! Your estrogen seems OK depending on what time of the month. Have you posted all current tests, ranges and results? This seems to be piece meal and it is harder to say. Take a look at that web site. he is a professor at UCLA and Drew U Re: armour is wiring me out, help!!
