Its important to know weather you have UC or Crohns. If your bleeding you need to see your GI. There are other meds out there that work. COLAZAL is a relatively new med for UC and I have heard it works very well for some people. Its also given to those who have Crohns. My doctor told me that moderately loose stools are acceptable as long as there is no blood. Sounds(from experience)like you need to be on Prednisone for awhile. You will see a difference right away. 40-60mg or Prednisone gives me a normal stool. There are also other meds that you can look into if your UC or Crohns cannot be brought under control. 6MP Purinthol, Methotrexate among others.
