Hi Michele,

Welcome to the group! I hope we can continue to be of help as much

as the info you have read seems to have been so far. This group is

full of caring parents that really support each other, so please

post if you have any concerns.

Since you are in the process of evaluating your repositioning

progress now, I would strongly recommend taking progress photos

(i.e. top, side, front view) every week or so from approximately the

same distance and angle. They can provide a more objective

assessment than just eyeballing it. Have you been taking progress

photos of your daughter while trying to repo? We were able to use

aggressive repo only to treat our daughter Remy's plagio/brachy...

if you would like to see some of the progress photos we took, check

them out at the PHOTOS section, BEFORE AND AFTER folder,

REPOSITIONED folder.

Regarding the best way to repo in a bouncie seat, is to ideally not

use one at all, or only a very small portion of the time. We didn't

use the bouncie or swing at all once we started repo'ing Remy at 5

months. However that's just not practical for every situation,

especially younger babies too young for the exersaucer etc.

Definitely prop your baby's head off of the flat area while in the

bouncie with a rolled up towel. You might have better luck with a

soft neck ring pillow (in the links/repo and tummy time folder.)

One caution is that the constant contact the non-flat side of the

head makes with the bouncie seatback while using this method,

increases the risk of flattening and increasing the head height on

that one side (this did happen to one of our members here). The

best repo in the bouncie that I heard of, may have been the foam

behind the neck repo trick from one of our members. You may have

already seen the repo photo and instructions for this idea in the

FILES/REPO HEADQUARTERS/REPO PHOTOS FROM OUR MEMBERS folder. It's

the only repo tip I have heard of that keeps pressure off of the

entire back of the head while in a bouncie. Other ideas to help

with bouncie seat repo are the boppy noggin nest, or custom squares

of memory foam behind the head www.foamstore.com to at least provide

a softer surface for the baby's head. Have you seen the link to the

Bumbo Baby Seat? This innovative baby seat may be a good

alternative for you instead of the bouncie

www.bumbobabyseat.com .

An integral part of repo results is successful nighttime repo. How

is your daughter positioned at nighttime or while napping? Have you

been able to work in any tummy time during the day?

At 3 1/2 months, repo results should be noticeable fairly quickly.

I would expect to see steady progress of some measureable degree

within a few weeks. Would you say your repo efforts over the past 6

weeks have been aggressive? Also, if you would like to, you can go

ahead and get a appt. set up with a specialist. Sometimes it takes

a few weeks or so to get in, so you could try some aggressive repo

efforts to check for progress between now and then. If you are not

comfortable waiting an additional 6 weeks before your pediatrician

re-evaluates your repo progress, then you should feel fine about

seeking this additional opinion. I think 3 1/2 months is at the

youngest age end of the spectrum for treatment, so you are

addressing your plagio concerns very early in the game, leaving all

your treatment options open, with the best chance for maximum

correction!

Would you let me know how your repo efforts are going, and let me

know if I can be of help in any way? I would love to see a photo of

your daughter if you ever get a chance to post one.

Take care,

Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy)

Hi Michele,

Welcome to the group! We're happy you found us. I just want to second

everything Christie has already told you. I do want to add that I

think you should get the ball rolling with a pediatric neurosurgeon

now. It can take WEEKS if not months to get in to see one. The

younger a baby is banded the better and faster the correction. Where

are you located? Maybe we have a member in your area that can direct

you to a plagio educated ped neuro.

Hi Michele,

Welcome to the group!

If you don't have a referral, I'd suggest you go ahead and make that

appointment with a neuro since your ped has already remarked that the

spot is Moderate. It may take a while to get into seeing him/her and

in the meanwhile, you could continue repositioning her. I see that

Christie has already responded to you, so I am sure she has some

great advise on Repo.

Worst case senario, you'll have to band her. Believe me, it sounds a

lot worse than it really is. It weighs only ounces and the baby feels

nothing. The parents have a harder time adjusting than the babies,

and, before you know it, she'll be finished with it. Nobody WANTS to

band their babies, but like you said, she is an otherwise perfectly

healthy baby and this really is a temporary thing.. Like braces on

teeth. Except, the band doesn't hurt like braces. :-)

Please keep us posted on you daughter.
