Guest guest
Val, You have to make something that is served cold or you will kill all of the good bacteria. Yogurt can be used in baking, but it just makes stuff taste good. It no longer has any beneficial bacteria once it is heated. Also, freezing it destroys some of the good bacteria as well. So, to get the full benefit of the beneficial bacteria, you have to find something that you can do with it and serve it without heating it. What about adding some seasoning and calling it ranch dip and letting him dip hamburgers or vegetables in it? Guest guest
" I was wondering have you ever made anything like a cookie or cake out of the nut yogurt dripped? " I made the Lois Lang bread with it, that recipe calls for DCCC and I subbed with dripped & pressed nut yoghurt. Really tasty. But other than that, no. My son likes the yoghurt best just the way it is. He does also like it on pancakes. But without sweetener, it's the pure yoghurt that he asks. So no further purposes, no suggestions from my side yet. The dripped & pressed yoghurt (cream cheese) was the last thing I did. Marjan mom to Nick, 7, scd since jan 18 2003
Guest guest
Hi Jody, thanks,I will have to try your idea. At this point, I know if would be great to have the yogurt provide the probiotics, but I am just looking for an ingredient that I can cook with that is not just vegs and meats, and not cause pain and a colitis flare. He is just eating the same items day after day and getting tired of some of them, so it just narrows his choices down even further. He has been scd since Sept and I just feel bad that he can never have a treat to eat Val
Guest guest
Val, Can you list everything he can eat and tolerates? Maybe we can come up with something creative for you to make within the choices that you have. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 13 months
