Hi! My son had x-rays and an MRI at 8 weeks. The x-ray didn't " need "

sedation although the experience was awful (my son has torticollis)

and so they couldn't get the angle they wanted (DUH) and they came

back inconclusive. They did the MRI to rule out brain defects for

the plagiocephaly and he did require sedation b/c babies aren't

still enough to get the most accurate data. There are two types for

this age: IV or " drinking the medication " . The IV is safer and works

faster with the least side effects-Will woke up about 2 hours later

and was fine, although a little more tired than usual. The sedation

that is drunk wears off after about 12 hours and isn't the

recommended way if they can get a good vein for the IV-with Will,

b/c he was only 8 weeks, it took several tries but in the end worked

out.

Of course, I'm no expert and this is my experience. The MRI showed

his brain was normal-I wasn't offered a CT scan and I " m not sure

what the difference is. I debated the MRI but researched it and was

advised to go ahead and now I'm glad we did. Will is getting his DOC

band on August 2nd. HTH!

Yes! Thanks for telling me about your experience. I don't know if

I'll be able to handle them sticking needles in her. I cried for the

vaccinations at my daughter's one month appt.
