Guest guest
Tara, Don't lose hope about the correction (though nobody has perfect noggins). Gracie could easily get GREAT correction - 8 months still is young enough - some people don't START treatment until well later than that. It may take a little longer is all. Just dont lose hope!! Bring some interesting toys, I hear a lollipop works great (though we didnt try that with our son), nosey toys.. a pacifer if she takes one. Just be prepared for crying (maybe you'll get lucky and she'll breeze right through it w/o a sound). Let us know how it goes and breathe... think good thoughts!!! Guest guest
Tara, WHOA!!!! Not all of that is true. My daughter rec'd wonderful correction and she rec'd her DOCBand at 8.5 months, wore it for 12.5 weeks. Go look in our photo section of the group...there is a 19 month old that was band and what a good looking head he has now!! Nobody can say how much correction a baby will receive. 100% correction isn't very realistic either. My daughter looks 100% better to me than she did the day she began treatment, but certainly isn't perfectly round either. Please don't be discouraged by the numbers these dr.s like to spit out. If you ask 3 different ppl the severity of your baby, trust me, you'll get 3 different answers. If you ask those same 3 ppl the amount of correction your baby rec'd at the end of treatment, you'll get 3 totally different answers. Stick to, how it looks to you now and when treatment is over. Good Luck! Dustie > Tomorrow Gracie will be casted in San Diego. Guest guest
Hi Tara, Please don't bank on those percentages! I was told that my baby would probably only receive maybe 50 % correction. She started out with moderate plagio and wasn't DOCbanded until she was a little over 11 months. She received 90+% correction! No one can tell you for sure just how much correction your baby will achieve. I'd make a bet that Gracie will make recieve more than 50% correction from her DOCband. When is Gracie's casting? > Tomorrow Gracie will be casted in San Diego. Guest guest
I'll second what everyone else has said, no one can accurately say how much correction you can expect to get, but 8 months is definitly not 'old'. The head keeps growing (albeit more slowly) for a long time so as long as you are controlling that growth there is ongoing opportunity for correction. The staff at San Diego is great. Our daughter was there today for a minor adjustment, and Angella had us in and out within ten minutes. You'll be in good hands. Matt > Tomorrow Gracie will be casted in San Diego.
