Hi,

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has sensory integration issues, lots

of anxiety and fear, major bad moods, iritability, heavy metal

toxicity (we're gearing up for chelation). She is currently on a gf/cf

rotation diet because she has so many allergies. She prefers

grains (rice, amaranth, buckwheat,...). She has formed stools,

finally., but this is with no fruit, eggs, nuts, corn, soy. Her allergy

symptoms are diaper rash and worse behavior. I think of her

allergies as delayed response (never tested, just trial and error).

We started enzymes (Houston) about 2 weeks ago, but so far, no

improvements in behavior. How hard would SCD be without

dairy, eggs, nuts, tomatoes and fruits?

Thanks,

Without those items in her diet, her diet would consist only of

meat and vegetables. You would have to work very hard to get

enough carbs in her diet using only vegetables.

It sounds to me like her diet consists mainly of starches right

now.

Chelation causes yeast problems in almost all of the kids.

Eating a diet high in starches will only make this problem much

worse.

Many people find that once they have been on SCD for a while,

their food intolerances diminish greatly.

While my son was gfcf for 9 months,he ate buckwheat and I thought

that it was safe, but I ran across a web site that said although it is

gluten free alot of kids can't tolerate it.I took it away and he made

huge gains! This diet is hard at the beginning, but just knowing that

one day he will heal makes it well worth the trouble. My son has alot

of the same intolerances that your daughter has,but it is possible.I

look at it this way,If you have a water leak and you turn off the

water you haven't fixed your leak. This diet has fixed alot of peoples

leaky guts and that gives me hope.My prayers are with you!

Your daughter sounds a lot like mine and she's 9 yrs. old. You could do it

if she would eat a lot of veges and meats. But I think without the fruit

she'd be missing a lot of carbs. She would need to eat a lot of vegetables

and you could do it in the form of pancakes. She could eat soups too. Some

of the foods like tomatoes that Abby has a problem with, on the SCD she

doesn't because it's " tomatoe juice " not chunks of tomatoes. (plus there is

no sugar or grains paired with it) She has showed up allergic on the SAGE

testing to orange and apple and I have been trying it and she's been o.k.

with it. The diet is really limiting and I am finding it difficult but worth

a try.
