Hi Krissy,

I can see exactly what you are talking about but it is probably

completely normal. I would call his neuro. and ask about it. You

may get some reassurance so you do not have to worry one more day.

Perhaps s/he can just talk to you on the phone about it without

needing to be seen. If you do want someone besides the ortho to see

it do you think 's primary ped could see him today? I really do

not know, but I am guessing that you do not have anything serious to

worry about. I know it's hard though!

I will ask our ortho about it today as well. I see a bump/ridge on

the top right of Colin's head and I'm not sure if it was always there

now! We have an apptm't at 3pm EST and will be home by 5:30 pm.

I'll post tonight no later than when Colin goes to bed. Maybe it

would be nice if they had more hair....LOL! J/K

Krissy,

Perhaps he just slept funky and his helmet was resting on a new spot

during that time? The striped marks are similar to what gets

sometimes when he wakes up from either a nap or all night. They DO

fade within the appropriate time so I don't worry. Because you say

it's right on a fontanelle I would call his neuro just to be on the

safe side. It can't hurt to ask. If you are really worried it may get

worse I would leave the band off for now.

Krissy,

My daughter had that same looking bump on her head during and after

treatment for awhile. Her's was where the plates of her skull were

shifting into their correct shape. had a soft spot the size of

a golfball for the first 2 years of her life. It is now the size of

a quarter. I would definitly bring it up to the ortho tomorrow at

your visit. Excess fuild is also very common during and shortly

after banding. Let us know!

Krissy:

I can definitely see the bump & understand why you're concerned, I

would be too!

Often, babies can get fluid retention " bumps " around gaps between

band & skin, this is common & no problem for concern and will go

away after the baby has been bandless for a while. However, we

normally hear of this around the ear area near the bands velcro

closure.

I don't know, personally, I would keep the band off til you can be

seen by your orthotist tomorrow just to be safe and err on the side

of caution. Better to be safe than sorry I'd say.

Let us know what you do & what the ortho says tomorrow.
