Guest guest
Hi Becky, Not an electric , just a hand crank model. It is a " Star Frit " apple pro peeler. Here's what it looks like http://www.starfrit.net/apple_pro_peeler.html ( I bought it at my local hardware store) and I do them on an assembly line. He passes me the apples, I zip them through the peeler and then he takes them. The peeler came with a corer and slicer tool, and an replacement blade. I did try it with pears once but the " bump " on the top doesn't get peeled. It might work at least partially if you peel the bump first, cut it off and then peel the rest of it. Sheila, SCD 36 mos, UC 20 yrs mom of (4 yrsold) SCD 21 mos Hi Sheila, Is this an electric apple peeler?? Never heard of one except the kind used in the " old " days that cored at the same time. Where did you buy your peeler and do you think it would work on pears also? Guest guest
For what it's worth - when making apple and pear sauce in my crockpot, I don't bother to core them. I just peel them (easy to do when pears are really ripe), take the stem and flower end of, then put them whole into the crockpot. Once they are cooked soft and cooled, it's really easy to remove the cores. Then I blend the flesh. Hope that helps someone - it's sure saved me a lot of time!
