Guest guest
I think height is the key indicator. Weight could just mean they are putting on fat, which at his age Jaden should still be doing. Or check the head circumference, which is what we're all watching when they're in a Band, right? My son is significantly chubbier already and looks a teeny bit taller, but that could just be wishful thinking. His helmet has started slipping down over his eyes, leading me to hope that the forehead has receded a little. It seems unlikely at his age and after only two weeks, but mommies must delude themselves or how could they function? He sure is happy on the new diet! He's eating an omelet right now and drinking V-8. He had dropped to the 15th%ile after starting off in the 95%ile and I was getting worried. We're flying down to San Diego again tomorrow to get the DOC band checked. Wish me luck on the plane with chubby checkers! , 18 mos, tort, DOC band. Guest guest
Hi Amy, What you're looking for as far as a growth spurt for correction in his band would be an increase in head circumference. The measurements aren't always too accurate though b/c they can change as the shape of the head changes. Hannah's head had a huge jump in circumference b/c all her head was really high, above where they measure. Once she was banded and her head started filling in where there wasn't any before, she circumference really jumped. My ped was concerned at first until she saw her heasicle and could really visualize what had happened. Often babies eat and sleep more when they're going through a good growth spurt. I don't think an increase in weight will necessarily tell you much, b/c it could just be chubbiness, but an increase in height is probably encouraging as well. , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma --- In Plagiocephaly , " Amy in MN " <skisum88@h...> wrote: > SO after reading 's little funny, the question came to my > mind.... how would I know if Jaden had a growth spurt?
