Guest guest
I was just reading a radiology report from 1998 - I go to a rheumatologist next week so I am taking a copy of this in case he wants to see it. I never really paid attenttion to it before. In the medical record part it says that I have a cartilaginous tumor in my right hand - says that it should be checked again if I have symptoms. Now I notice the xray report which says, " Focal lytic area in the base of the 3rd proximal phalanx appears benign but should be correlated with clinical symptoms " . Looked up focal lytic since I didn't know what it meant and it said " bone destruction " . Is this something I should have checked? Should I be concerned? Is the 3rd phalanx the middle finger? Reason being, over the past year I have had increased pain in my middle finger where it joins my hand any time I use my fingers. Now, it could be that I've seen this before but with the fibro fog and pregnancy I don't remember it. Is there anyone who can explain it? If it is something to have checked then I want to mention it at my rheumy appt next week. Joy
Guest guest
If you have any concerns about and medical report, I strongly urge you to ask the physician treating you, take the report in and ask for an explanation as it relates to you and your case. Guest guest
Hi, I agree with Jill. I would specifically ask how the doc knows this tumor is benign and if there is a way to biopsy it. I had nodules in my thyroid and was treated with a medication for years to shrink them. Then I found out from another doc that there is no way to determine if it is malignant without removing the entire nodules. So I had surgery and they turned out to be benign. A great ending to my story. I hope you have such a good ending too. Best wishes. Let us know how things turn out, please. -Nanette > > If you have any concerns about and medical report, I strongly urge you to > ask the physician treating you, take the report in and ask for an > explanation as it relates to you and your case. > > Jill > > > > I was just reading a radiology report from 1998 - I go to a > rheumatologist next week so I am taking a copy of this in case he > wants to see it.
