Kathy, I'm going to let the experts answer your questions, because they are much

better at all that than me. Just wanted to say that I'm in NC too! And I use

Gwaltney Low fat bacon, it is sugar free, but it does have nitrates so not

ideal. He only gets it once a week or less, 2 small pieces, as a treat because

he LOVES it.

Hi, Sorry so many dumb questions but after one week of this I am still

confused. I found a lot of organic bacon at Whole Foods but they all had sugar.

Anyone know of a legal bacon/ham in North Carolina?

I need to replace Fleishman's Unsalted sticks with something. Any ideas?

I have introduced almond flour in the form of pancakes........I know it's too

soon but my child is not eating much. How about the spaghetti squash with

sauce. Is it too soon for that after one week? What if I make the sauce with

just beef, garlic and tomato juice and put it over the stringy squash? (no

chunky tomatoes, just clear sauce) Is it too soon to move on from apples,

bananas and pears to other fruits? Where can I find the cracker recipe

(dairy-free)

I really appreciate the help, I want to keep hanging in there.

Thanks, yeah, I have that one. It's in a green package. I was just trying

to find a nitrate free one that's sugar-free as well as ham. The ham,

bacon, and hot dogs at whole foods are nitrate free but they have sugar. I

think Applegate does sell ham that they slice that contains honey. (That

just popped into my head) Where do you live in NC? I am in the sticks of

Kernersville!

Off Topic--------What is your school district like? Ours sucks. Sorry for

language.

If you don't want to use the sugar free bacon that has nitrates, in BTVC p53

Elaine writes, " for those people who cannot get their meat smoked without

sugar, ordinary smoked bacon may be eaten once a week if it is fried very

crisply " . Another option is to find a local butcher who will cure it

without illegal additives. Perhaps using honey.

A third option is to cook a pork roast. When finished thinly slice it and

fry up the slice until they are crisp.

Coconut butter, olive oli, sunflower oil.

It depends on your child. It is better to go slow, but if Abby isn't eating

it is probably better to find something she will eat. Once she has adjusted

to the change you may be able to go back to more basic foods later. If she

isn't eating much is it possible she is going through die-off?

That sounds tasty.

It is better to go slow so you can tell if she reacts to a food, but if

you do make sure they are peeled, deseeded and cooked.

Thanks so much Sheila!! She absolutely LOVED the spaghetti squash with the

sauce last night! I was thrilled. She ate some pureed carrots too with

honey, cinnamon, juice and maple extract!
