Guest guest
Hi! I just want to jump in here a minute and give you my two cents worth. My 5.5 month old daughter has tort and is in a StarBand (since 2/10/04). We also had difficulties nursing and I asked about it here... I'll pass on the advice that I got, and tell you what works for us. For us the tort has only been a minor issue in nursing, resolved by changing the position I use to nurse (lying down seems to be less uncomfortable on the tort side). Anyway, the band is a little hard to get used to, but try putting a thick burp cloth or a folded receiving blanket on your arm under baby's head. Or my new favorite (thanks to GREAT advice received here!) is to sit in the rocking chair with a fairly dense feather pillow half on my lap, half on the chair arm, and then lay baby on pillow instead of cradling in your arms. We are also waiting to be seen for PT... we finally got the referral after 2 months of fighting our ped, and now the PT can't see us for another three weeks. Grrrrr... it seems we've been waiting for treatment way too long. Luckily with younger babies (like we have) there is a little time for it. Just re-read your post... not sure if you are still trying to nurse or not... and I have heard of only one person who was supposedly helped by the cranio sacral therapy... she swears that her son couldn't nurse before treatment, and then did just fine after... who knows if that did the trick or if it was a fluke! Stand your ground for what you think is right! & Abigail (9/2/03) StarBanded 2/10/04 & tort > Hi Barb and welcome to the group!
