Guest guest
Hi! I am not sure if I managed to get here to reply yesterday! I was so busy at work that yesterday is just a blur! We saw the therapist at Cranial Tech who first off said that Lilly should be in the band, but as she looked at her more from different directions, she wasn't so sure anymore. Lilly doesn't have opposing flat spots for the band to work against. Her right side has the flattening, but her left side of her forehead does not have the bossing for the band to push against. She wants us to get in to see the neurosurgeon sooner than July so that if she does need the band we can get moving. They have called the neurosurgeon's office to get us bumped up and we should hear something early next week. I feel like she may end up stuck with the flattening because she doesn't have the bossing for it to push against. I am hoping that the neurosurgeon will have some suggestions on where to go from here....While I would like to think that this journey is over, I think we are just beginning. Thanks for asking about us. I really appreciate it! --- In Plagiocephaly , " " <sarahhollis@y...> wrote: > Kate, > How did Lilly's consult appt go yesterday? Guest guest
Thats interesting that they don't know if you'll get the results w/out forehead bossing. The brachy shape often doesn't have bossing either, and though it may take longer they still can have great results. Be sure to let us know what the neuro thinks! I hope they get you in sooner. , mom to Hannah, DOCband #3 3/30 Cape Cod, Ma > > Kate, > > How did Lilly's consult appt go yesterday? (Hopefully you didn't > > already answer this! Guest guest
HI! We should be able to get in sometime in the next 2 weeks for the neurosurgeon. I am really glad we went to CT because it seems to be speeding up the process. The therapist still thinks that she could use the band, but was not sure of how good the results would be. Hopefully the neuro will have a little more insight. He works in the same practice as the first neuro we were supposed to see and they run a plagio clinic. I feel like he will be able to help us make the best decision possible! -- In Plagiocephaly , " " <sarahhollis@y...> wrote: > Thats interesting that they don't know if you'll get the results > w/out forehead bossing. Guest guest
Hi, When I first took my daughter to see a neurosurgeon (last year)regarding her plagiocephaly, he immediately said that her shape was not a typical plagiocephaly shape because she was largely flattened on one side (instead of accross the back like most). He also said he was not sure a helmet would have anything to hold on to to achieve results. Long story short: we did get a band anyways and we did get good results. My daughter did have some bossing, which corrected very quickly. If I were you I would push to get more information and have more experts assess the situation. Perhaps your cranial tech clinic could send some pictures to the main office in AZ to have them help assess the situation. The thought also occurrs to me that perhaps a passive helmet design might be of use in such a case with no bossing since they are just a shell to grow into - not a form which exerts force. I think that might be worth looking into as well. Best Wishes, > > Kate, > > How did Lilly's consult appt go yesterday? (Hopefully you didn't > > already answer this!
