Hi ,

First of all, it is wonderful that your ped was so concerned from

the start. It was my sister, who is a pediatrician, who made me

notice. Anyway, I went to look at your pics and there was only one

and it was kind of hard to see because of the angle. Do you have any

others?

Hi ,

Welcome to the group (even though you've been here awhile!)!! I

took a look at 's pics and really can't say what I think b/c

of the angle. If you try taking from the exact top with being able

to see the tip of his nose and both ears visible and as in line as

possible, you can really get the best idea. In the top view one you

posted, I do seem some flatness and bulging, but like I said, with

the angle it's hard to tell. Have you looked at the severity

assessment forms in the links section? Despite his severity, I

think you really need to be happy with his head how it is now. It

is unlikely that he'll change much on his own at this point. Some

doctors say no additional self rounding happens after a year, others

say 2 yrs. I sense you aren't happy w/his shape based on your

post. Do you live near a Cranial Tech www.cranialtech.com ?? They

are the only ones who band after 18 mos that I know of. My Hannah

had severe plagio and graduated at 11 mos. Four months later her

headshape still bothered me enough that I decided to go with one

more band while I still could get her some additional correction.

I'm so happy I did! I knew though that even if she didn't have any

additional correction in it that at least I couldn't regret not

trying! It's really a tough decision, so you really need to think

in terms of how his head is now in case it doesn't change. He isn't

too old for a band, but obviously time wouldn't be on your side, so

you probably would want to make a decision ASAP. I wouldn't waste

time w/a specialist if you do, just have your ped write the script.

Hi! Thank you for replying to me and I tried to reply back earlier

but for some reason it did not got through. I wondered how much

improvement would conitnue to happen after a yr. I have seen possibly

some slight improvement from the 3 months I took the pics I posted

but I am not sure. I don't think his head has regressed though. I

have been meaning to ask, could it regress at this point? I didn't

think that could happen.

I believe there is a cranial tech in KC and I have looked at their

site several times. 's head looked very much like their head

shape for plagio - the parallogram (sp?) shape around 3 and half

months except his ears were never misaligned as far as I could tell.

I will try and get some better pics taken. It is so hard to get a 16

mo old to sit still long enough to take a decent pic! And thank you

for taking the time to look at his pics and for the advice.

Let me start by saying how adorable is! I would love to see

more pics. When I first pulled them up, my mom noticed and thought

it was my son, Kody! In those pics, does look a lot like my

baby.

It is amazing how many people on this board have similar stories.

Your Pede's husband sounds just like Kody's last pede. He just

rubbed Kody's head and said he is fine. Now, At 17 months we have

finally casted him, and made an appointment for his 1st PT session.

I had to pursue everything on my own. The Pede said NOTHING! I

have been plagued with the question of what to do since he was 2

months old! I read your responses, and it seemed was reading

my mind. I am doing something, because now I can. Soon, it will be

too late! I wish I had gotten on the ball sooner.

I wish you the best of luck with your decicsion. You are ultimately

the one who must make the decision that is right for your son and

family. I wish you the best of luck. I did a lot of crying when I

was in your position. It is a VERY hard place to be, but I haven't

been sad or cried once since I finally decided! It feels good to

know what I am doing.

You shouldn't have to worry about regression at 16 mos old. It only

happens in 1% of cases anyway, and they're usually younger babies.

When is 's bday? He must be pretty close to my Hannah

(12/23/02). And yes, it is quite a challenge to get a decent

picture at this age!
