Patna Doctor Felicitated for AIDS work at NMCH 38th Foundation Day Celebration

Patna: April 2, 2008

State Health Minister Chandramohan Rai, on the 38th anniversary of the

foundation of Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) on Wednesday,

announced the government's decision to raise the medical seats in the college

from 50 to 100 from this year while also introducing post-graduate studies in

medicines come July 2008.

The minister also agreed to the doctors' demand of building an auditorium within

the campus.

Several prominent alumni including Dr. Diwakar Tejaswi, the Medical Director of

International Health Organization, Dr. Ravindra Kumar Yadav, Dr. Sunil Kumar,

Dr. Rajeshwar Thakur, Dr. Vimal Karak, Dr. Kalika Sharan, and Dr. Sahajanand

were honored at the function.

Dr. Tejaswi, who graduated from NMCH in 1992 with 7 gold medals, was honored by

the Health Minister, State Human Resource Development Minister Brishan Patel,

and Patna Central legislator Arun Kr Sinha for his outstanding work in health

and AIDS awareness in the state.
