Guest guest
....ready to go in and raise cain if you don't get what you need? Well, here I was all braced to DEMAND a ped allergist consult for my daughter this morning, because we wanted to rule out wheat allergies before even considering the gluten challenge as the ped GI had urged. So fortunately we get our favorite ped in the practice, the " Elder Statesman " (think T Berry Brazelton!) for her visit this morning. He asks about the GI consult (it was written in her chart), I tell him what we're thinking, meanwhile lining up all my arguments in my head. When I pause, he says, " I think that's a great idea. WHY on earth would we do a gluten challenge on this tiny one unless we had to. " BIG SIGH OF RELIEF. Yes, thank you thank you, there is at least one doctor still out there who realizes this is a child and not just an organism on which a diagnosis needs to be made. *WHEW* I don't know if or when we'll find out anything definitely with the allergy stuff, but it definitely feels like the right " next step " . Just wanted to share my tiny victory - hey, I'll take any victory I can get these days! (-:
