Guest guest
Janet, I'm so sorry you have to deal with an inconsiderate specialist. I see Christie responded with some good ideas. We actually didn't go to a specialist because we were able to get an evaluation from CT. With their info our family doc wrote the RX. Our family doc had sent two prior babies to specialists who then sent them to the CT office we went too. Will your ped write the RX? mom to na DOC Grad 2/20/04 results from plastic sur. consult ugh, what a flippin joke!!! sorry but I am not at all pleased with what wejust went through!!! The doc spent no time with us (Even after we waitedover an hour and a half past our scheduled time!!), couldn't answerquestions and would only refer to one orthotist. I can't even thinkstraight now. All I know about plagio I have gotten from the net. Ofcourse you can't believe everything you read, but he seemed to belittle uswhen we answered his question," where did you find all your info, on thenet? there is a lot of bad stuff out there". Then he asked to see what wehad printed out. I feel I have no options. He told us that children w/plagio have no long term ill effects. The onlyproblem he has seen is that these children (ones with plagio) have troubleplaying with other children. Then, when I asked if I could use a differentorthotist than the one he ALWAYS recommends, he said no. Flat out NO. Heuses these people, they help him get reimbursement from the insurancecompanies. Then he proceeded to say, I don't make any profit on thesehelmets, I wish I did!!! The more he said the more shock I went into!!As he is walking out the door he says, "Oh and you will need an x-ray".Literally, as he is walking out the door. Well gee-if I didn't get my infofrom the net how would I know what the x-ray is for, he didn't offer anyexplanations.Ugh, my head is spinning... I want what is best for my son. What do I do?For now I have an appointment scheduled for the 9th for a fitting with theorthotist that he recommends. I guess what is meant to be is meant to bebut something seems very, very fishy.Thank you for letting me vent....I am sure I have left out some majordetails. I just don't want to plunk down 1200 bucks and get something Ican't use. Time is flying by, and I don't have $$ to pay for what I thinkis right privately. Guest guest
Janet, OMG! What a jerk this guy sounds like! My ped sort of put down the net as well for getting information.....but thank god it's here for us!!! I wouldn't have had the courage to continue my fight if it wasn't for this group! I don't understand why you have to go to THAT orthotist? When a doc writes an RX for a drug, you can go to any drug store that takes your insurance....It's it the same with a band? Our Neuro wrote an RX for us and recommended one ortho, but we actually ended up going somewhere else, and I didn't need a different RX..... If there is some place you'd you'd perfer to go, you might want to call the clinic and check this out!!! Good Luck....hand in there.....and the net can be a Wonderful and Useful source of info!!! These darn docs!!! and (DOCgrad 13-Feb-04 /10-14mos./ PA) Filyaw <filyaw@...> wrote: Janet, I'm so sorry you have to deal with an inconsiderate specialist.
