Diarrhea after starting the diet

My 5 year old son with ASD has been on the SCD diet for

approxiamately 8 weeks. He has had inconsistent bowels (prone to

bouts of diarrhea) since he was 18 months. When we started this

diet his bowels actually were more consistent (just soft). Now that

he's on this diet, he's had diarrhea about 90% of the time. My

question is .. Why after eliminating more foods does his bowels look

worse? His mood and energy are fine. Could he not be tolerating

the nuts? This is the only thing I can think of besides his

supplements. He's pretty much living on eggs in the morning with

either nutbread or nut pancakes and grape jello. Afternoon was

Turkey slices, cooked pears, and nut mixture. Evening was chicken

or beef, cooked veges and more cooked veges. Nut muffing for

snack. Can anyone tell me where I'm missing the boat on this? It

would be real helpful. Also is Kraft Mayo illegal?

Hi I'm not expert :) but yes I think commerical mayo of any kind is

illegal. I've only used it twice in 6 months and made it by recipe

online.

We've been on the diet for about 6 months now. I haven't introduced

nuts yet... and just a tad of nut flour... like a couple tablespoons

in " meatloaf " is all we have. Every child is different but I just

knew we had not healed enough yet to tolerate many of the foods we

look forward to later. And we've tried to only eat the veggies

listed at the beginning of the diet.. those are most easily

digested. I think it will be a year before we are actually eating

anything in stage 3 or 4 very much honestly.

Probiotics helped a lot and now we are doing some other things too

that have been a great compliment to the diet after the first 5

months.

If I were you, I'd start removing things systematically and then

adding them back in slowly and see if you can figure out what the

culprit is. Diarrhea does occur at times.. especially with die off

but it sounds like you may have some food sensitivities there also.

Good luck and blessings to you and your child!

,

Are you making the jello yourself, using honey and juice?

What kind of turkey slices? (Turkey you slice yourself or a pre-sliced

brand)?

What do you mean by " nut mixture " ?

I don't know of any legal store-bought mayo.

Also, it would help us to know how you started the diet.

Did you start with the intro and gradually add new foods?

Did you keep a food log?

What supplements is he currently taking?

We'll do our best to help you figure this out, but we just need a

little more info.
