Guest guest
, You can give white grape juice instead of purple grape juice. And from what I have seen with the other kids, pineapple juice seems well-tolerated by the kids with phenol issues. Just remember that all juice should be watered down at least 50% at the beginning of the diet. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 13 months
Guest guest
Jody, I don't know why but he doesn't seem to like the white grape juice??? He won't even try it for me. He does like the pineapple juice and yes, we water it down. In fact, we do 3 oz. juice and 6 oz. water! lol. He's got the red rash on the face and had to see Dr. Hulseman on friday for a really bad ppop/puke thing he had that day but thats all cleared up now. Back to that great ar looking poop now. lol. We are doing epsom salt baths and activated charcoal is coming from Kirkman on Tuesday. Guest guest
, I'm glad he's better now. Being sick is such a drag. Have you tried making pear juice? My kids don't like white grape juice either. And they will eat just about anything. Jody mom to -5 and -7 SCD 13 months
Guest guest
I don't have a juicer ... it's on my wish list though, lol. He is taking orange juice now which is a first for him! Ya think we should just do the pineapple and orange juice? He's on 1000 mg of vitamin c though and I worry about giving him tons of the orange juice because of it. He drinks LOTS of juice (granted its pretty diluted) but wont drink straight water. Also, when do they say you can add weak tea? And, did I see somewhere that the liquid sweetnlow is legal?! He likes that in tea. Also, is it just the liquid or is the powder okay too? > , > > I'm glad he's better now. > Being sick is such a drag. > > Have you tried making pear juice? > > My kids don't like white grape juice either. > And they will eat just about anything. > > Jody > mom to -5 and -7 > SCD 13 months
Guest guest
The grape juice does cause a phenolic reaction with Luke. He does best with Dole Pineapple, very diluted, or homemade pear. in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/salicylate intolerant/diarrhea pre-SCD; , age 3, healthy; and , 19 mos, healthy All SCD since 1/26/04 Phenols? If you have a child that has issues with phenols, then I kinda thought that giving them grape juice was bad (grapes being a phenol) ? Is it different or should you keep it away from them or make it minimal??? Also, is the Dole pineapple juice alright? Phenol free?
