Definately the greatest thing i have ever done for my body and mind. 12. anything else? Yep, having the band is great but people need to know it's not the quick fix, there are dangers(like any surgery) and you have to work at it.....BUT it has been wonderful for me, i know i would have just kept getting bigger and bigger without the band......said it before , say it again..I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!! : )
Guest guest Report post Posted March 29, 2000 My stats as follows: DOB: 3.2.53 (47) .... does this make me the oldest ozbander? Occupation: hmm, this and that... mothering (5 kids), secretarial stuff for my husband, volunteer on-and-off musuem guide, other community work Where: Melbourne Starting weight: 132 kg on day of op.... managed to gain a good 6-7 kg in the weeks between deciding to do iit and the execution Date of op: either 30.11 or 1.12.98... can't remember which.... guess it's that age thing Hosp: The Avenue Doc: Prof. O'Brien Current weight: 87 kg. (ish) Any probs: some, yes, but thankfully not major ones. The usual upchucks, reflux, plateaus, blaming the band when I eat wrong, continuing head hunger Feelings about the surgery: God bless the lap band Anything else: don't expect the band to do it all... it won't. Also, don't be too hard on yourself about sticking rigidly to the rules.... the best thing about the band is never again having to say " no " to any food you fancy; it's all about quantities
Guest guest Report post Posted October 25, 2000 Suzy, I researched the band extensively before I had it put in. I asked reams and reams of questions about complications side effects etc. I was told that slippage was a possibility. And after my second one was told it would never happen again, but here I am with number 3. Each of us is an individual and you can ask all the right questions but you may not fall into the group the answers came from. Given the problems I have had and the road I may take, the switch, I would still have the band. My body just does not like the band for some reason. But I have lost 50kg and I owe that to the band. I feel we bandsters are one step ahead of the game. We are use to being discerning about what we eat, so if and when I become a switcher I have one less hurdle to jump. Guest guest Report post Posted October 25, 2000 Jo, Wasn't having a go - just trying to get people not to be TOO trusting! I hope the switch works well for you and it is a shame that the band hasn't been everything that you wanted it to be. I will say what I have said before a few times -whatever it takes is OK as long as it works for you(anyone)- certainly if I had not had sucsess with the band I would consider the switch very seriously after hearing 's good reports (and someone else ?).
